The personalization industry is a fascinating paradox - controversial yet captivating. That's why we're passionate about our Personalization Talks series, interviewing experts worldwide. You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/gmDEG6B4 Recently we explored The Martech Weekly "Personalization Fetish" by Keanu Taylor and Juan Mendoza titled "Personalization Fetish" (these guys always nail their provocative titles 🔥 ) and want to share our thoughts with you. Their insights challenge all of us to stop treating personalization as a monolith. Is a sophisticated repurchase prediction model really comparable to using a customer's first name in an email? Clearly not. We need to move beyond vague notions of "personalization" and get specific. What's the ROI on implementing a product recommendation engine? What percentage of customers can we retain with a solid churn model? When does contextual personalization truly shine? Our focus should shift from personalization for its own sake to genuine customer value. The question becomes: How can we be more helpful? There's a growing pivot towards usefulness in marketing. Personalization's core aim is admirable: tailored, useful experiences that recognize individual customers. But we've veered into fetishizing the concept. As marketers, we must accept that we can't (and shouldn't) personalize everything. The real challenge? Finding that sweet spot between personalization, data privacy, and measurable business impact. Is it possible? Absolutely. But it requires a thoughtful, nuanced approach. #personalization #martech

Product Recommendation Case. Cross-selling opportunity during refunds. Very interesting insights from Ariyh newsletter by Thomas McKinlay highlight a unique sales opportunity: leveraging refund moments for cross-selling. Details ↘ People are 66% more likely to buy a gift card using refunded money because it feels like “already spent” money. More statistics: - 78% of people chose to spend a refund on a Starbucks gift card, compared to 47% with non-refunded money. - When buying a Nike shirt, people were 2.5 times more interested when using refunded money. - After deciding to return winter shoes, people were 27.6% more likely to buy a jacket. It works because refunded money feels like less of a loss, making people more inclined to spend it again on similar or different products. When processing a refund, offer other products—related or not—before completing the refund, using a recommendation widget personalized with the refund amount and user data. #crossell #productrecommendation

In May, Anna Ambrozevich, the founder of CRO & Personalization Resource, delivered an insightful speech at the "Design Science" conference in Tashkent, which was organized with UsabilityLab CA & EU and other partners. Anna's presentation aimed to introduce the CRO and Experimentation industry to the Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan audiences. This was a significant first step in popularizing CRO within the Central Asian market, and we're enthusiastic about continuing this journey. For those who couldn't attend, you can watch Anna's presentation here (in Russian): https://lnkd.in/dbmd3e_G #cro #uzbekistan #experimentation #designscience

I write deep dives on product growth @ Growthdives.com | Fractional Head Of Growth, PLG

Onboarding personalisation is hard. Really hard. Here's 5 steps to make it easier: 1. First, you need to have a clear view of your personas; their different needs and their different fears. 💬 Interview users and create a quick table to compare the personas. ✏ Detail isn't needed here as they'll never be perfect - don't get bogged down with existential crises or big questions, just get an high-level view. 2. Copy is the easiest and most important thing to personalise. 🎙 Use language from that persona - phrases you've literally heard them say during user interviews. Don't go for brand copy, go for customer-centric language. 👀 Think: "how can I make this persona feel seen?" 3. You take ages on copy to realise only 16% of people actually read a full page. So make sure your imagery helps reinforce messaging to cater for the 80% of people out there who scan your UI. 📲 Are demos or imagery using a real, tailored use case? 👩💼 Is the subject and job title of social proof from a relevant stakeholder? 🗞️ Are PR logos from the right market and sector? 4. UX flows can get complex quickly. Don't just launch a whole new flow as you won't learn what's impacted. ✍️ Make sure you're testing your assumptions with users 🏆 Take your highest value persona first and go from there. 5. And, lastly, pricing. 🏷️ Don’t offer everyone the same thing 🧧 Test willingness to pay per persona, and tailor feature set for their needs (is it about number of seats for a team? Or is it about amount of storage for an individual?) 🔎 People are curious and will hunt around. Don't hide anything, else you erode trust. Make pricing easy to find and compare. Any more for any more? I've put this all together in a pretty infographic, hope ya like it! ✨
