Utah Utes Flagship Radio - ESPN 700 & 92.1 KALL

ESPN 700 & 92.1 (KALL-AM) has been the radio home to University of Utah athletics since 1951, and is presently operating under a five-year agreement signed in the spring of 2022. ESPN 700 and 92.1, which has a 50,000-watt evening and weekend signal, and a 10,000-watt daytime signal, is one of two stations in the Utah Sports Radio Network. The other is KOAL 750 AM in Price. All of Utah’s games on ESPN 700 can also be heard live online at UtahUtes.com. They will also be carried by SiriusXM Satellite Radio as well as the TuneIn app.

Managing the radio network is Utah Utes Partnerships, a division of JMI Sports, under general manager Matt Smith. Utah Utes Partnerships is in its first year as the multi-media rights partner for Utah Athletics through a 10-year partnership signed in May 2024.

Handling the play-by-play duties for the Utes' football and men's basketball broadcasts is Bill Riley, who is in his 16th year as the “Voice of the Utes” in 2024-25, and was named Utah Athletics' Director of Broadcasting in June 2024. Riley is a 31-year veteran of radio and television and has won numerous awards as both as host and play-by-play broadcaster, including three NSMA Utah Sportscaster of the Year honors (2012, ‘15, ‘22).

Riley is joined in the football booth by former Utah quarterback Scott Mitchell, who is in his seventh season as the analyst. Mitchell played at Utah from 1987-89 and holds several of Utah’s passing and total offense records. Mitchell then played in the NFL from 1990-2001, throwing for more than 15,000 yards and 95 touchdowns. He was the head football coach at Springville (Utah) High School from 2008-11. Former linebacker Steven Sylvester is in his fourth year as the football sideline reporter. Sylvester played for the Utes from 2006-09 and was a first-team All-Mountain West selection as a senior.

Highlighting ESPN 700 & 92.1’s football game-day coverage are four hours of pre-game coverage and two-hour postgame shows that include live interviews with players and coaches and expert analysis. The Kyle Whittingham Show, hosted by Riley, airs on ESPN 700 & 92.1 every Tuesday during the regular season. The show is broadcast live from 6-7 p.m. MT and streamed online.

Riley and former Runnin' Ute Sean Mooney handle the radio call of Utah's men's basketball games on ESPN 700 & 92.1, while Riley hosts the weekly Craig Smith Coach's Show. Tyson Ewing and Milee Rustand are the voices of Utah's women's basketball broadcasts, and ESPN 700 & 92.1 FM continues to carry Utah's home gymnastics meets and weekday night and weekend home baseball games.
