Biography

BREAKDOWN:  Senior 6-10, 230-pound forward Harrison Hornery is a strong rebounder and scorer out to the three-point range.  He is the lone returning scholarship player from the 2023-24 team.

2023-24:  Hornery played in 26 games, making four starts, averaging 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.  He scored in double-figures twice, netting a career-best 17 points vs. UC Irvine on Nov. 14 and then scoring 14 points vs. Oregon State on Feb. 3. He hit a career-best 4 three-pointers in the UC Irvine game.   He started Nov. 9 vs. CSU Bakersfield, Nov. 19 vs. Brown, Dec. 10 vs. Long Beach State and Jan. 13 at Colorado.  He recorded a career-high nine rebounds vs. Brown on Nov. 19.

2022-23:  Hornery played in 24 games all off the bench, averaging 7.0 minutes per game played.  He averaged 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds.  He was 2-for-2 and hit a key 3-pointer to score 6 points at UCLA on Jan. 5.  He played 19 minutes off the bench and grabbed a season-best 5 rebounds vs. Washington on Feb. 4.  Scored a season-best 7 points and grabbed 3 rebounds vs. California on Feb. 16. Made his only shot, a three-pointer, vs. Michigan State in the NCAA first-round game on March 17.

2021-22:  Hornery was used sparingly, appearing in 12 games and scoring 19 points in 54 minutes of action. Had a layup vs. CSUN on Nov. 9 in his collegiate debut.  Became an instant fan-favorite when he came off the bench and spearheaded USC’s  comeback from a 13-point second-half deficit against Pacific on Feb. 2 by going 3-for-4 from three-point range to score nine points and grab a season-best six rebounds. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Hornery graduated from Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif. where he averaged a team-leading 18.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game as a senior.  Hornery also led Mater Dei in three-point shots made with 76.  He scored 24 points or more over the final six games which included three CIF Southern Section Open Division playoff games and a CIF Southern Section Regional Open Division game.  Hornery was named first team All-State and the Orange County Player of the Year as he led the Monarchs to a 27-4 record.  He was also named first team All-CIF and Trinity League MVP.  He maintained a 4.1 grade-point average.

PERSONAL:  Hornery was born on July 1, 2001 in Mackay, Queensland, Australia.  His parents are Deanne and Brian Parslow and his father is Chuck Hornery...He has five siblings, Charlie, Grace, Clancy, Claire and River…Hornery came to the U.S. to play basketball at Mater Dei and has lived with a host family in Mission Viejo, Calif. He stayed in the U.S. during the pandemic and saw his parents only through FaceTime for nearly 15 months…His interests include golf, visiting the beach and going back to Australia…He would like to visit Fiji someday…Hornery is majoring in Communication at USC.
