Successful protocol for direct shoot regeneration from in vitro Cape primrose (Streptocarpus × hybridus Voss.) leaf explants has been developed. The ease of tissue culture propagation can promote Streptocarpus production and facilitated the rapid introduction of this new species. Adventitious shoot regeneration was inducted in vitro on MS basal medium, using different concentration of NAA (1, 1.5, 2 mg·L-1) and cyokinin TDZ (0.1, 0.5, 1 mg·L-1). High frequency regeneration was obtained from leaves when cultured in the media supplemented with 1 mg·L-1 NAA plus 0.5 mg·L-1 TDZ and the percent of regeneration resulted is between 70% to 100%. Complete plantlets were acclimatized and successfully transplanted to glasshouse conditions. The total duration of the cycle from leaf explants through complete plantlets was 10 weeks.

To achieve this goal, modular and mobile structures with two different types of low maintenance plant species, Sedum and Cornus were selected. These species have been chosen because of their ecological benefits, hardiness attributes and morphological characteristics. This paper aims to present an urban green component adaptable to different scenarios such as major annual events without interfering with temporary constructions and pedestrian routes while at the same time creating a more aesthetic and attractive open space for locals and tourists alike. Every element added to the square can be relocated or moved at any given time without negative impact to the environment. To present the potential of this design concept, three different arrangement design scenarios were conducted - one for the everyday life of the publi...

The roots of this water plant naturally absorb pollutants, including heavy metals such as Pb, Hg, Zn, Co, Cd, and Cu and can be used for wastewater treatment. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of heavy metals on growth and development of water hyacinth and to determinate the uptake capacity of heavy metals of this species. It was evaluated for its effectiveness in reducing pollution potential in wastewater. From the combination of experimental factors 11 variants resulted. The results showed that Eichhornia absorbed a high quantity of Pb (504 mg/kg dry matter) and Cu (561 mg/kg dry matter) in their roots. More Cu accumulated in the root compared to Pb. The level of Zn absorption was lower in roots (84 mg/kg dry matter) and also in stem plus leaves (51 mg/kg dry matter). A high quantity of Cd (281 mg/kg dry matter) was removed f...
