A self-organizing two-way DPWS adaptor for adaptive interoperability of multiple heterogeneous services

Published: 14 January 2010 Publication History

Abstract

Although distributed middleware technologies such as UPnP, Jini, HAVi and DPWS generally feature the same goals, many different factors are also isolated from each other. This paper outlines a self-organizing two-way DPWS adaptor which aims to provide the adaptive interoperability of multiple heterogeneous services in pervasive computing. The proposed infrastructure employs Devices Profile for Web Services (DPWS) as the underlying integration technology. The mean of self-organizing involves obtaining the metadata of the DPWS devices and DPWS-hosted services automatically to provide other distributed middleware clients with DPWS-hosted services. A prototype implementation of the DPWS adaptor is also presented and the paper concludes with general remarks and a discussion of future works.
