The competence-based education recently launched in Spanish universities presents a set of abilit... more The competence-based education recently launched in Spanish universities presents a set of abilities and skills that are difficult to teach to students in higher and more technologically-oriented grades. In this paper, a teaching intervention that is based on design methodologies is proposed, to upgrade the competitive capacities of computer engineering students. In particular, this intervention targets those aspects relating to working in multidisciplinary teams and to defining requirements based on the user’s empathy and knowledge. The main idea inspiring this technique is that the underlying challenge is a communication problem. As Brooks (1995) states in his book The Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering, even a project having all of the prerequisites for success (a clear mission, manpower, materials, time and adequate technology) could fail as a Tower of Babel. The proposed technique through mixed methods has been evaluated with students enrolled in different courses, confirming the repeatability and validity of this method from quantitative measurement, from observation of the results, and from ascertaining the value perceived by students and their attitudes.

La narrativa transmedia es la técnica de contar una historia a través de múltiples plataformas y ... more La narrativa transmedia es la técnica de contar una historia a través de múltiples plataformas y formatos, que incluye el cómic, donde una parte de los consumidores asume un rol activo. Esta técnica se caracteriza por la posibilidad que tiene el público de participar como productor de historias dentro de un proceso creativo colectivo. Se pretende que el consumidor pase a ser a la vez emisor y receptor del contenido, dando así lugar a la figura de prosumer, que es aquel que produce lo que consume. Actualmente, cada vez es mayor el número de prosumers que quieren ser partícipes del proceso de diseño y producción de los productos que consumen, ya sean cómics, como es en el caso de la narrativa transmedia, u otros productos de uso cotidiano. Así pues, en el ámbito del diseño de producto han surgido herramientas como la customización masiva o el diseño modular que hacen más fácil que los usuarios intervengan en el proceso de diseño y transformación del producto. Este trabajo presenta un análisis de las intervenciones e influencia de los prosumers dentro de la cadena transmedial creativa del cómic y del proceso de diseño de producto. El objetivo es establecer una relación que permita analizar y comparar estas intervenciones que se han dado en ambos ámbitos. Para lograrlo, se analizarán una serie de casos que serán ubicados en una gráfica según su nivel de intervención con respecto al producto final y su nivel de individualismo o colectividad.

The growing tendency for end users to get involved in the design and manufacturing phase of their... more The growing tendency for end users to get involved in the design and manufacturing phase of their own products has led to the proliferation of makers and prosumers. The tools available for this have been adapted to be used by non-specialized users who seek to meet their own needs and wants. Modular design offers a series of advantages directly related to the needs of current users, but which has hardly been used to benefit them. Instead, its development has geared towards aspects that are hidden to the consumer, such as flexible production.
This work presents a survey, part of a wider research, whose objective is to develop a methodological model for the prosumer to benefit from modular design. The survey was open for several months and was only aimed at makers, prosumers and designers. A dissemination plan was drawn up where the current communication channels of these users were taken into account. The results show what the current prosumer is like, what their needs are and how they relate to modular design. Finally, the conclusions provide information on how to develop a model proposal to ensure its correct usability and acceptance.

Product design is a process developed by specialized profiles such as designers or engineers. For... more Product design is a process developed by specialized profiles such as designers or engineers. For this reason, most of product design and/or manufacturing methods developed are aimed at experienced professionals. However, in the current social and technological context, we observe that the number of prosumers, users who partially produce the products they consume, is increasing. These users are involved in design, manufacturing or assembly phases of the product to obtain final results that respond to specific needs and desires. Given this emerging trend, we wonder if there are methodologies focused on these users in particular, both in the academic field and in practice. This work aims to clarify this issue through a review of research papers and real cases. The results obtained differentiate between the methodologies that have been defined in the academic field and those that have not been compiled but whose repeated use has agreed its application and existence in practice. The methodologies identified are analyzed in two tables that summarize how they are applied and what their main objective is. The results and conclusions offer both the scientific community and the prosumers a series of product design and manufacturing methods focused on non-specialized profiles.

Los objetivos que pretende el trabajo por módulos son asegurar el resultado del aprendizaje, complementar sin solapar contenidos de asignaturas, dar sentido a todas las asignaturas independientemente de su área de conocimiento y optimizar los recursos y esfuerzos del alumno.
