O tratamento usual dispoe de um arsenal terapeutico restrito, toxico e pouco eficiente, representando uma necessidade medica que perdura sem uma devida solucao. Os ciclometalados de paladio(II) vem se destacando na area medicinal, sendo constatadas suas potencialidades antibacteriana, antichagasica, vermicida, tuberculostatica e leishmanicida, sendo este um promissor farmaco. A incorporacao de ciclopaladados em lipossomas visa a um aumento da solubilidade do complexo metalico, a obtencao de uma boa atividade contra Leishmania amazonensis e, consequentemente, a uma inovacao na terapia da leishmaniose cutânea com menor citotoxicidade e maior biodisponibilidade. Palladium(II) coordination compounds of general formula trans-[PdX2(isn)2], X = Cl− (1), N3− (2),... more Palladium(II) coordination compounds of general formula trans-[PdX2(isn)2], X = Cl− (1), N3− (2), SCN− (3), NCO− (4), isn = isonicotinamide; were synthesized and characterized in solid state by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and simultaneous TG–DTA. TG experiments reveal that the compounds 1–4 undergo thermal decomposition in three or four stages, yielding Pd0 as final residue, according to calculus and identification by X-ray powder diffraction.

This work describes the one pot syntheses and characterization of two new heterometallic carbonyl... more This work describes the one pot syntheses and characterization of two new heterometallic carbonyl compounds of the type [Fe(CO)3(m-CS2)(PPh3 )(CuX)], X = Cl, ClO4. Both compounds were investigated by infrared and 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopies in order to clarify the coordination mode of the carbonyl groups, as well the bridging disposition of the carbon disulfide between iron (0) and copper (I) atoms.

This work describes the synthesis, IR and 13C CPMAS NMR spectroscopic as well the thermal charact... more This work describes the synthesis, IR and 13C CPMAS NMR spectroscopic as well the thermal characterization of the new dicarboxylate complexes [Pd2(ox)2(4,4′-bipy)]n (1), [Pd2(ox)2(bpe)]n (2) and [Pd2(ox)2(pz)]n (3) {ox = oxalate, bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, bpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane, pz = pyrazine}. TG experiments reveal that compounds 1–3 undergo thermal decomposition in three steps. Metal palladium was the final product of the thermal decompositions, which was identified by X-ray powder diffraction.

ABSTRACT The organometallic compound [Pd(C-bzan)(SCN)(dppp)] {bzan = N-benzylideneaniline, dppp =... more ABSTRACT The organometallic compound [Pd(C-bzan)(SCN)(dppp)] {bzan = N-benzylideneaniline, dppp = 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane} was synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared and H-1 and P-31(H-1) NMR spectroscopies. The crystal and molecular structures of the title complex were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. In vitro antimycobacterial evaluation demonstrated that the compound [Pd(C-bzan)(SCN)(dppp)] displayed a MIC of 5.15 mu M, which is superior than those values found for some commonly used anti-TB drugs and other Pd(II) complexes.

ABSTRACT Mono- and binuclear cyclometallated Pd(II) compounds containing C,N-chelating dimethylbe... more ABSTRACT Mono- and binuclear cyclometallated Pd(II) compounds containing C,N-chelating dimethylbenzylamine (Hdmba) have been synthesized aiming at investigating their mutagenic properties (Ames test) and cytotoxic activity toward murine tumor cell lines and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By reactions of [Pd(C 2 ,N-dmba)(μ-X)]2 {X = Br (1), I (2)} with thiourea (tu), in the 1:2 molar ratio, the mononuclear compounds [Pd(C 2 ,N-dmba)(X)(tu)] {X = Br (3), I (4)} were readily obtained. The new compound 4 was characterized by elemental analyses, infrared (IR) and 1H- and 13C{1H}-NMR spectroscopies. The cytotoxicity assessment of the cyclopalladated compounds 1–4 revealed that the iodo-derivative 4 was the most active toward murine mammary adenocarcinoma (LM3) cells, even more effective than cisplatin. The cyclometallated compounds 1–4 did not demonstrate mutagenic potential according to Ames test results. Compound 4 was only moderately active (MIC = 60 μg mL−1) against M. tuberculosis. Graphical Abstract Mono- and binuclear cyclopalladated compounds have been synthesized. These complexes displayed cytotoxic levels toward murine mammary adenocarcinoma cells comparable to cisplatin. Cyclopalladated compounds were non-mutagenic in the Ames test, contrary to cisplatin and its analogues.
