As we approach the end of the year, we look back to the Women in Work Summit where we shared messages from Tulip Siddiq MP Economic Secretary to the Treasury, and Anneliese Dodds MP, Minister of State for Development and Minister of State for Women & Equalities. They both stated their aims to drive growth across the UK by breaking down barriers and enabling women to contribute more, enhancing their individual economic opportunities, as well as those of the nation. 🟰Anneliese Dodds MP said: “The Women in Work #GenderEquityMeasure Report clearly sets out the scale of the challenge that we currently face, and as Minister for Women in Equality, it's my role to counter it, but I'm not alone, driving equality throughout society is central to all the missions set out by this government. Too many women are being held back in their workplaces, whether that's because they're under pressure to balance work and caring responsibilities, or because they're not being supported to manage the symptoms of menopause. ⚖️ “This government is prioritising growth, but in order to achieve it, we must start by fully harnessing the talents, creativity and brilliance of every woman in our country. We have put women's equality at the heart of our mission. We are a mission-led government, and we will make the changes needed to ensure women's equality becomes a reality.” 💰 Tulip Siddiq highlighted research from the The World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the Office for National Statistics, consistently showing that increasing women's participation in the workforce significantly boosts economic growth. 🪜 “We're working with venture capital firms and investors to close the funding gap for female-led businesses and to support their growth and missions. When women succeed in business, our economy thrives. 🎯 “Another fiscal aspect of our mission is addressing the persistent gender pay gap. By closing this gap, we can unlock billions to the UK economy. The economic case is undeniable: companies with more gender diverse leaderships perform better and economies where women participate fully see faster growth. ⬆️ “We are working to create an environment where flexible working, parental need and inclusive health qualities are standard practice. This is not just about fairness. It's about ensuring that women can contribute to the economy without being held back by outdated policies or structural barriers.” Looking forward to 2025 and making change happen faster; when we get it right for women everyone benefits!

🚨 Female policies are for life...not just maternity. 👂 Enlightened employers see gender equity through a multi-generational lens, empowering women to be their best selves during every life stage. Our research shows how large employers have the power to eliminate inequities for women in work – if they really listen to what women want. ♀️ Our partners, the amazing charity and online community The Female Lead ran polls asking if women believed their employers were doing enough to achieve gender equity. Over 10,000 women voted. ➡️ 60% felt their company was not doing enough to close its pay gap and promote equality in leadership roles ➡️ 49% of women felt their company’s female and family policies were not relevant to them or their generation. ➡️ Only 41% were aware if their company published their parental policies publicly. 💥“Let’s take away the fences instead of giving people taller ladders to climb over them,” this was the rallying cry from Sainsbury's Chief People Officer, Prerana Issar as she addressed the Women in Work Summit. 🌍Prerana highlighted research from the World Economic Forum which shows it will take *163 years* to close the #globalgenderpaygap if we move at current rates. 📢She urged businesses to publish gender pay gap data, board representation data, parental leave and menopause policies, and diversity metrics, while also encouraging more men to attend and participate in diversity and inclusion events. 🎯Underlining the importance of inclusive leadership which removes barriers for women of colour and people with disabilities, Prerana discussed practical strategies like skills-based training and creating supportive environments such as intersectional employee resource groups, as well as the need for performance-based outcomes to drive change. 🎤She shared emotive words from author, speaker, and political activist, Marianne Williamson: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you *not* to be? Your playing small does not serve the world.🌍 There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. And as we let our own light shine💡, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” 👀More here: https://www.wiwsummit.com #wiwsummit #womeninwork #genderhealthgap #genderpaygap

As December approaches, the Christmas festivities become a time of joy, connection—and challenge. For working parents, especially mothers, this period often highlights the unique pressures of juggling professional responsibilities with the increased demands at home. The UK school system offers generous holidays, but they don’t always align well with work schedules. The result? Many parents, particularly women, find themselves navigating a patchwork of childcare, annual leave, and remote working solutions to ensure family needs are met.
