About us
The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme which has been created to help deliver good jobs with opportunities for people to progress and develop, along with a thriving and productive economy. The Charter aims to improve employment standards across all GM employers regardless of size, sector or geography. The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter has a tiered structure, made up of Supporters, Members and Advocates. Supporters Employers that support the aim of the Charter and have made a commitment to improving practice in all characteristics of good employment. Members Employers that have made the Supporter Commitment and meet the membership criteria in all characteristics of the Charter. Advocates Individuals that excel in characteristics of good employment and share their expertise with others to support the aim of the Charter. The Charter has set out seven characteristics of good employment: • Secure Work • Flexible Work • Real Living Wage • Engagement & Voice • Recruitment • People Management • Health & Wellbeing Organisations – including businesses, public sector bodies, service providers, the third sector, and voluntary and community organisations – can sign up to the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter as Supporters, with the goal of becoming Members and Advocates. By progressing up the tiers, organisations will be able to meet higher employment standards. At the Charter we recognise good employment is a journey, not a destination. We support employers wherever they are on their journey – whether it’s committing to raising standards, developing good employment, elevating practices further, or mentoring others to do the same.

This morning we hosted our Supporters' and Members' Quarterly Networking Event! Ian MacArthur, Director of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter started this event by warmly welcoming our newest Members of the Charter. Attendees heard from Terry Duffy, Strategic Growth Partnership Lead at Acas who shared his thoughts and insights around Labour's employment law proposals. Roundtable discussions were then had, where attendees shared their thoughts on the proposals, how it may impact their organisation and what can the Charter do to offer support with these changes. Thank you to everyone who attended this Quarterly Networking Event! See our upcoming events: https://ow.ly/9KGz50Tfc3K

Fascinating discussions at the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Quarterly Networking event this morning around the proposed new government legislation for Employment Rights and Equality Rights Act! Flexible working, fire and rehire and the right to switch off, along with recruitment challenges and closing the pay gap were hot topics. Thanks Terry Duffy, Strategic Growth Lead at ACAS for the overview. Thoroughly enjoyed the round table discussions and seeing my lovely former colleague Carol O'Driscoll.
