Recently, our Group General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Patrick Verraes took the stage at the Global ECP Strategy Hub, sharing compelling insights as part of a panel on the crucial topics such as ESG, Human Rights and Compliance, all of which are shaping our industry. As a company, we aim to be a leader in our field and influence the chemical sector in the topics of ESG and sustainability. We thank Global ECP Strategy Hub to provide Patrick Verras and Archroma with an opportunity to contribute and allow us a voice in this space.

Our Exclusive General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer panel was another hit and privellege on Day 1 of ECP Switzerland. Thank you to Cornelis ("Kees") Van Ophem and Patrick Verraes for representing the GC contingent and Daniel Gysel Floriana Scarlato for respreseting the CCO side of the panel. Also a big thank you to Nic Carrington (Deloitte) for navigating such a fruitful discussion which included points raised regarding: - Low number of complaints is a failure - as it means people are afraid to complain or do not trust in system. - Is the role of general counsel compatible with chief compliance officer’s? - Even with the increase of AI, who is responsible at the end of the day if there is ‘rubbish out’? There is no escape from responsibility even with Generative AI. #ecpswitzerland #ecpglobalstrategyhub #ecp #legal #compliance

What a privilege it was to spend the last few days in Zurich attending Economic Crime Prevention Switzerland 2024 (hosted by Global ECP Strategy Hub). The event provided an unrivaled opportunity to network, learn, and share experiences with leading risk and compliance practitioners from across the world. Key Themes: ✅ The increasing complexity of the global risk landscape From sanctions and trade compliance, data protection, financial crime, corruption and bribery, security, and geopolitical risks the "omni-risk environment" (as one attendee put it) is pushing over-stretched and under-resourced compliance departments to their limit. That said, it was heartening to hear of the creative approach some companies are taking to break down silos across departments (IT, security, business continuity, legal and compliance) pool expertise, share data and develop multi-disciplinary risk mitigation programs. ✅ The impact of emerging technology Terms like "compliance 2.0", and "step-change" in how risk management is conceptualised and delivered were used. While tools for streamlining workflows, analysing data, and automating processes offer opportunities for driving efficiency, getting buy-in from the board for organising people, processes, and policies in new ways was described (repeatedly) as a major challenge. ✅ Public-private cooperation While projects like the OECD - OCDE's Global Initiative to Galvanise the Private Sector as Partners in Combatting Corruption (GPS) were seen as positive developments, a number of conversations revolved around the need for more opportunities for collaborative engagement with authorities - esp. on issues at the intersection of geopolitics and compliance. The public-private partnership models being rolled out across the AML and cyber security communities were seen as positive examples to emulate. From my vantage point the event echoed a clear message from industry... ... that solutions vendors and service providers need to evolve as risks and risk management evolves. Companies are seeking products and solutions that: ✂ Are tailored to their unique demands. One size fits all won't cut it when banks, pharma, telecoms, FMCG, power generation, and sporting bodies have totally different priorities, operating models and risk profiles. 🌎 Enable group-level policies to be harmonised with the specific commercial, operational and regulatory demands of each jurisdiction in which they operate 🤯 Make use of a diverse range of readily available data sources, but also don't overwhelm compliance officers with unnecessary information For organisations to be able to navigate the complexities of the evolving risk environment, it's incumbent upon solutions and services providers to continuously reflect on the demands of compliance professionals and innovate accordingly. Something we strive to do here at Control Risks VANTAGE. #RiskManagement #Compliance #thirdpartypeaceofmind #ControlRisks #ethicsandcompliance #duediligence
