Social mobility to me is about people achieving their maximum potential based on their own efforts and merit; without their start in life impacting what they can achieve. If you want a motivated, fair, and high achieving workplace, then ensuring there are no barriers to people achieving their potential is crucial. Ensuring no barriers to social mobility is key to this. The true business benefit is that you get a real diversity of ideas, opinions, and experiences. Effectively selling to the 93% requires employing and utilising the 93%. A #ShareMoment obstacle within this space is networking. Networking is not something that comes naturally to a lot of people. However, at times progression can only be achieved by effectively networking within an organisation. This can be a huge barrier to social mobility and hold back both individuals and businesses. At Reckitt we are actively taking steps to knock down these barriers by partnering with the 93% Club and introducing apprenticeships within our Sales & Marketing functions. These steps can help us ensure we are unlocking the potential of young people, no matter their start in life. Havas has (finally, and rightly so) lost their #bcorp status over their work with Shell. Accountability matters to ensure the trust into sustainability focused labels and status, so this is the right decision from B Lab. Our impact as an industry is not limited to the energy we use in our offices nor how much we travel and how. UK soft-drink maker Britvic plc has rejected a £3.1bn takeover bid from Carlsberg Group , saying the Danish brewer was “significantly” undervaluing a group whose brands include Robinsons and Fruit Shoot. Carlsberg made an initial bid of 1,200 pence per share earlier this month, before sweetening its all-cash proposal to 1,250p, which London-listed Britvic rejected on June 17. As well as producing its own brands, Britvic is PepsiCo’s bottler in the UK. Carlsberg is PepsiCo’s bottler in Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Cambodia and Laos. The brewer of Kronenbourg and Tuborg said the acquisition of Britvic would offer it “long-term growth opportunities”. It said it was considering its position after Britvic rebuffed its second bid. The acquisition of Britvic would offer Carlsberg the opportunity to expand its drinks bottling in Britain, for both alcoholic and refreshing beverages products.
