Renewable Energy Insights: REPD Q3 2024 Dashboard Our team used Microsoft Power BI to analyze and visualize publicly available data from the Renewable Energy Planning Database (REPD). This dashboard provides a clear view of the progress in renewable energy projects from 2001 to 2024, offering valuable insights into the growth of sustainable energy. Key Highlights: Offshore Wind leading the way with a total capacity of 89,506 MW. However, while applications for new projects remain strong at 1,204 approved projects, installed capacity has seen a noticeable decline compared to the last decade. This trend may reflect shifting priorities or emerging challenges in maintaining historical growth levels. Battery technology is experiencing unprecedented momentum, with a total capacity of 71,123 MW. This includes 35,757 MW approved and 35,366 MW pending, highlighting its rapid adoption and crucial role in grid stability and renewable integration. Battery Storage has seen a 50% growth in planning applications relative to its 10-year average, underscoring its significance as a key driver in the clean energy transition . Energy from Waste (EfW), with a total capacity of 3,866 MW, demonstrates steady progress despite a drop in new applications. Approved capacity stands at 3,177 MW, emphasizing increased efficiency and optimized resource utilization, making EfW a vital part of the renewable energy mix. Hydrogen is emerging as a standout technology, with a total capacity of 648 MW, including 572 MW approved and 77 MW pending. Applications have more than tripled, and installed capacity continues to surge, signaling its potential to become a transformative player in the renewable energy sector. Onshore Wind faces a slowdown, as both applications and installed capacity have decreased this quarter. This reflects potential challenges or a shift in focus toward Offshore Wind and other emerging technologies like Battery and Hydrogen. Emerging Technologies to Watch: Anaerobic Digestion and Advanced Conversion Technologies contribute 336 MW and 231 MW operational capacity, respectively, showcasing their impact on waste-to-energy innovation. New solutions like liquid air energy storage and tidal stream are gaining traction as part of the broader energy mix. Why Zebra EM?
