Last Sunday, I had the joy of watching my son, Noah, marry the love of his life, after a three year, long-distance relationship. My wife and I had the honour of walking him down the aisle. It was a magical celebration—two people committing to spend their lives together, two young people choosing love. This month is filled with love at YuLife too, with colleagues Ross Groom, George Hoyland, Lewis Stock and Jaco Oosthuizen also tying the knot. Witnessing these unions, I’m reminded of a simple truth: At its core, love is a choice—a creative act. In a world divided by competition, choosing love means choosing unity, creativity, and meaning. When we are not creative we become passive, submitting to the direction in which society takes us, instead of carving out our own path. In business, especially in insurance, love isn't always the obvious choice. But we’ve chosen to build an insurance company rooted in it. We have taken the road less travelled. I first discovered gamification years ago at a Caribbean bar in Dubai, thanks to Kostas Dimitros; and it has fascinated me ever since. Over the years, I’ve researched and even written a paper on how gamification can transform marketing strategies. Now, I can easily spot it in action, especially in the tools we use at work. At Ketchup Marketing Limited, we use the YuLife app, which is part of our private health insurance. It motivates us to complete daily wellbeing tasks in a fun [and a bit competitive] way whilst earning "yucoins" for activities that benefit both our mental and physical health. The best part? These coins can be redeemed for rewards with various retailers! I clearly need to build my steps up... but this is a great example of how gamification can drive engagement while also promoting healthier habits.

This video took so long to make because Nadia Elgaddal just about recovered only 3 weeks later. If you’ve followed her couch to 5k journey - it was long...
