Tonight on Yorkshire Air 999... Our crew is called to the aid of a young goalkeeper who is knocked down by a van on his way back from playing football, and needs specialist care from our doctor and paramedics. Elsewhere a motorcyclist breaks both of his arms after coming off his bike at high speed on a winding Yorkshire road, and a farmer faces a serious spinal injury when his quad bike rolls over on a remote hillside. Yorkshire Air Ambulance Saves Lives, One Day It Could Be Yours
About us
Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) is an independent charity providing a life-saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire. Operational seven days a week, 365 days a year, the Charity currently attends over 1,300 missions a year, with an average of 4 incidents every single day. YAA currently operates two helicopters – one based at Nostell Air Support Unit, near Wakefield, with the second based at RAF Topcliffe, near Thirsk. To keep both of Yorkshire's Air Ambulances maintained and in the air, YAA needs to raise £19,000 every single day. The generosity we receive really is the lifeblood of the Charity. The charity was set up in 2000 and with the addition of the second air ambulance in October 2007, the YAA now operate our own Dedicated Air Desk for rapid dispatch of their helicopters to an incident. The swift medical interventions provided by their air ambulance crews have a major impact on a patient's chance of survival and subsequent quality of life. In September 2016, the Charity took delivery of a new state-of-the-art Airbus H145 helicopter. This was shortly followed by a second H145 in December 2016. The latest generation aircraft has a larger cabin and will give paramedics a much more modern medical fit-out to treat and transport often critically injured patients. Replacing the current fleet will ensure the continuation of a state-of-the-art air ambulance service for the people of Yorkshire for the next 25 years. Last year we teamed up with Harrogate family fashion brand Luce and Bear, to bring you this stunning Yorkshire Air Ambulance hoodie inspired by our work and the communities we serve. The unisex hoodie features an intricately crafted, hand-drawn design, based on the essence of our life-saving missions and the beauty of Yorkshire 💛 The design features a number of symbolic illustrations including the four major trauma centres in our region, our wonderful crew, and of course our magnificent aircraft and rapid response vehicles. There are also images of horses, motorbikes, hills and bicycles, symbolising some of the incidents we frequently attend. Our hoodies come in both adult and kids sizes and are a perfect gift for Christmas or even just a little treat for yourself! Priced at £45 for adults and £30 for kids, the hoodies are available now in our online shop! This week's awesome #PhotoOfTheWeek was taken by YAA Paramedic Stewart when being collected by our aircraft at Leeds General Infirmary. When we attend an incident, it isn't always about flying someone to the hospital. We deliver critical care to the scene, ensuring that those effected get the emergency care the need, as quickly as possible. When a person needs further treatment at a hospital, we, together with the other emergency services in attendance, will decide the best course of action for the person involved. That may be flying them to hospital, but sometimes it may be transporting them via road ambulance. In this case, members of our crew will often travel with them to continue care and treatment on the way. When this happens, our pilot and TCM will collect the medical crew from the hospital a little later ensuring the crew are back online and available immediately to respond to the next incident. #ViewFromTheCrew #Yorkshire #AirAmbulance #AlwaysReadyAlwaysThere

We'd like to thank long-term YAA supporters Evelyn Partners A team of 20 staff took their fundraising to new heights by climbing Snowdon in September and raised a total of £1,859 plus £447.25 in gift aid. This was then match-funded by the company and the team recently presented us with a cheque for an amazing £4,165.25. Some of the staff also ran the Leeds 10K this summer to support us and they often attend some of our events throughout the year 💛 #ThankYou #Support #Yorkshire #AirAmbulance
