This week we saw the launch of our new evoke ethnicity and culture community, Race Together. To celebrate this new community, colleagues were invited to attend a virtual event with guest speaker Clarke Carlisle. The founding committee members discussed their plans for the future and were joined by the former footballer to discuss sport and racial equality. Thank you to everyone who attended. We look forward to seeing what our Race Together community group do next!

Last month colleagues from our London office represented William Hill in the 5-a-side Corporate 5s Cup! Playing against competitors including Manchester United’s head office and Premier League productions, the team made it through eight matches and into the quarter finals. Ollie Harrison, Programmatic Specialist, told us: “The competition on the day was really strong, with many teams looking like they had played together before, and everyone was keen to show off their skills to their colleagues. The tournament began with us playing eight fast-paced group game matches, and we challenged our competitors in every match. We were lucky to progress to the plate competition but unfortunately, that was where our journey ended as we lost 3-1 to Manchester United Head Office staff. “Overall, it was a great day out and nice to meet some new people at evoke, and we felt very lucky to be playing football on a work day!” Congratulations to Ollie Harrison, Aaron Kular, Sean De Souza, Tom Hine, Josh Allenby, Robert Wood, and Rubelson De Barros Guimaraes Lopes Tavares, who represented William Hill in the tournament. ⚽

Last week colleagues in our London office were joined by former England footballer Trevor Steven, and journalist Dean Jones to share their take on the upcoming Euros games! As part of Men's Health Week, our very own Lee Phelps hosted the session which tackled the conversation of mental and physical health, as well as game-changing advice to keep colleagues at the top of their game. Together, they talked about the importance of checking in with each other and having open and honest conversations about how we’re feeling. They also discussed having a strong mindset and how that plays a part in setting ourselves up for success at work, and for the players ahead of the Euros.

Today colleagues in our London and Leeds offices made some furry friends 🐾 Following Mental Health Awareness week, colleagues were given the opportunity to take a moment to paws from their workday to cuddle and play with some temperament-assessed dogs. Our new furry friends are part of THE CUDDLE CLUB who are on a mission to bring the positive influence of dogs into workspaces. Interactions with dogs have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels, and boost mood enhancing hormones including serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin. Clare Daines, Head of Wellbeing and Inclusion said: “I was so pleased when we secured sessions with The Cuddle Club. It’s easy to forget to take a break during the working day, so it was lovely to take time out and enjoy the company of some gorgeous dogs. Better than lovely... it was pawfect!”

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Pride Month – a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ identities, cultures, and experiences. To kick off our celebrations, last weekend we sponsored Birmingham Pride and took part in their march across the city! Jamie Thom, co-chair of our Proud to Be committee, attended Birmingham Pride along with local retail colleagues. He said:   “I was really excited for William Hill to be sponsors of Birmingham Pride this year, helping us to show our inclusivity and support for this important event, as well as our LGBTQ+ colleagues and customers.   “The atmosphere on the day was electric – and loud! And to top it off, I was surrounded by so many fantastic people from our evoke family, which made it a really special day.   “A massive thank you to all the colleagues who joined our walking float during the Pride march. It’s a day I will never forget!”   Next week, we’ll be sponsoring Blackpool Pride, where we’ll be giving our retail shops a Pride makeover! #Pride
