Happy to share that I have obtained a new certification in project management for wildlife conservation by WildTeam UK in collaboration with Kang4Nature The last 8 weeks have been engaging learning from the experts and fellow peers. The learning has revolved around: 1. Project phases are crucial in any project to ensure nothing is missed out. 2. We often focus on perfection and forget to start a project. To avoid further negative effects on biodiversity start doing something. 3. A project tracker is key in ensuring the project stays on track and achieve its impact. There are so many apps and tools to help you create your project tracker, adopt and use accordingly. 4. A project plan is the blue print of your project, gratefull to #kang4nature for capacity building me on this. 5. How do you ensure your meetings are effective? Agree as a project team on how many meetings and how often you should have them, each meeting should have an agenda to ensure you stay on track. 6. Something that I have overlooked is managing documents. Let you document naming and filing to be consistent to enable clear tracking in the future. 7. I have learnt how to manage project progress and adopt to any changes that come along. The practical session was invaluable in equipping me with project plan development and honing presentation skills. Special thanks to Collins Busuru and Ruth Jepkemoi Singen for the amazing facilitation during the practical sessions, your insights were quite helpful. The amazing guests Anthony Onyango and @Sam Ndii for sharing your journey and insights with us. And my fellow cohort peers for collaboration, I have learnt a lot from you. Thank you #kang4nature for the opportunity to be part of cohort 1 of upskilling and upscalling program. The 8 weeks has been nothing but fun with lots of learning, I have already started implementing what I have learnt. Lastly, I wanna thank me for believing in me. I wanna thank me for doing all the work. #WildTeamUK #Kangkang #Kang4nature Collins Busuru Kang4Nature WildTeam UK Ruth Jepkemoi Singen

Thank you WildHub for featuring my thoughts on designing impactful conservation programs. Opeyemi OYAWALE, it was a pleasure speaking with you, and I'm looking forward to your leadership in wildlife conservation ❤️ Thirza Loffeld thank you for your leadership in convening this international forum for committed conservation professionals. It is a great way for us to get out of our geographical and subject matter siloes to see the bigger picture. We need functioning ecosystems, which include delicate and in some cases, millennia-old balances among species. Grateful to be among people across the globe who are dedicating their careers and personal energy to protecting nature. #environment #conservation #policy #programming #equity #consulting

🌍 The critical role of conservation finance in securing our planet’s future 🌿 The world is grappling with an unprecedented biodiversity and climate crisis, but there are sufficient funds available—the challenge lies in mobilising and deploying them effectively. This is where conservation finance comes in, offering innovative solutions that go beyond just raising money. Conservation finance employs mechanisms and strategies that generate, manage, and deploy financial resources to achieve long-term sustainability outcomes. Whether through return-based investments, economic instruments like taxes and fees, or leveraging grants and philanthropy, conservation finance helps shift the focus from short-term projects to self-sustaining, systemic solutions. Key approaches include: - Aligning incentives: Creating positive incentives to drive behaviours that benefit nature, while disincentivising harmful actions through penalties, taxes, or tradable permits. - Increasing capital flows: Engaging private investors in nature-focused opportunities, from impact investing and green bonds to conservation trust funds. - Realigning expenditures: Redirecting existing financial flows to reduce harmful subsidies and increase funding for biodiversity. For businesses, investors, and governments: investing in nature is investing in our collective future. It’s about more than conservation—it’s about integrating environmental sustainability into the heart of our economic systems to ensure equitable access to these funds for communities globally. Let’s rethink the narrative from conservation being a cost to seeing it as a transformational opportunity. https://lnkd.in/e6Up3fJz #ConservationFinance #SustainableDevelopment #ImpactInvestment #BiodiversityConservation #GreenFinance #ClimateAction #WildTeam
