We restore wetlands and unlock their power.
About us
We are a leading UK conservation organisation saving wetlands for wildlife and people across the world. Founded in 1946 by the naturalist and artist, the late Sir Peter Scott, we are the only UK charity with a national network of nine Wetland Centres. With over 60 years experience of wetland conservation, we are committed to the protection of wetlands and all that depend on them for survival. Our vision is that society values, protects and manages wetlands to sustain wildlife, people and the planet.

It's #NationalWildlifeDay! 🐸🦆🦦 Wetlands are home to lots of beautiful wildlife, including mammals, amphibians and many birds! However, a lot of species are under threat. It's vital that we continue to protect and restore their habitats to maintain a healthy ecosystem and a wonderful natural world. #conservation #wetlandwildlife #nature

Did you know that there are fewer than 50 pairs of British black-tailed godwits left in the wild? 🐣 But we're working with WWT to help them recover. Funded by Natural England's Species Recovery Programme, WWT is establishing the world’s first conservation captive breeding population. The first few precious chicks hatched in May 2024 and have already grown into their big, beautiful feet. Ongoing efforts to maintain and restore wetlands will give the future offspring of these chicks the best chance of survival.
