Our Group Chief Financial Officer Romaney O'Malley took the stage yesterday at FinPro's exclusive event in London, which brought together over 35 female insurtech builders representing more than 25 organisations. Joseph Kitonga, Brian Cottone Jr. 👏District Cover, a small business insurance broker specialising in tailored insurance solutions for city-based small businesses has raised over $7 million in funding. This was led by Mosaic General Partnership along with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Amwins Ventures, and others. Patrick Girouard, Brianna Chia, and Dane Brockett 👏Martello Re, a Bermuda-based life and annuity reinsurer has raised $1.3 billion after successfully closing their second round of equity funding of $935 million and increasing their current credit facility by $360 million. Dennis Ho, Michael Baumstein, John Westgate, Justin Mosbo, Virginia Milano Perinelli 👏Safe-Guard Products International, a provider of third-party private label finance and insurance protection products for the automotive industry has announced an investment from Hellman & Friedman. Additional investors include Plural and industry leaders from Allianz, AXA, and Bastian. Tom Blomfield, Abdul Afridi , Taavet Hinrikus Matt Robinson 👏 Health insurance company Sidecar Health led led by Patrick Quigley, Veronica Osetinsky & Rodney Barlow, has closed $165 million in Series D financing. The round, which represents the largest private investment in employer health benefits this year, was led by Koch Disruptive Technologies. They were joined by new and existing investors, including GreatPoint Ventures, BOND, Cathay Innovation, Drive Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Morpheus Ventures. 👏 African Risk Capacity (ARC) Group led by Lindelwe Lesley Ndlovu, has announced it has received a $27 million contribution from the Dutch Government to help boost climate resilience in Africa and further promote parametric insurance across the continent,  the funding will be channelled through the African Development Bank’s Africa Disaster Risk Financing Programme (ADRiFi) Multi-Donor Trust Fund. 👏 findspo, led by César López Caparros receives backing from QBE Insurance’s AccliCITY Leading Cities accelerator program

Sharing a special episode on The Leadership In Insurance Podcast this Monday morning - this week I am joined by no other than Tom Spier, CCO at Supercede | The Reinsurance Platform We are big fans of Supercede at FinPro. and have followed them since their early days. Fast forward to now, where they have just announced their £12 million Series A funding round backed by Alven with contributions from Mundi Ventures and existing investors Outward VC, Seedcamp, MMC Ventures, and AFG Partners- what a journey 🚀 In this episode we dig in to all things #Reinsurance and predominately the big topic of, why is reinsurance innovation underserved? Tom has a great ocean analogy for insurance innovation (listen below 👇 ) 🐠 He equates the brightly coloured fish swimming at the top of the sea to be the retail brokers and MGAs attracting the domestic buyers. Then we get to the darker, uglier fish further down ocean (& further down the value chain) - these are the harder to solve, less attractive problems that lack innovation... ➡ this is what Supercede are tackling. We look at whether as an industry, are we approaching Reinsurance wrong?  It's often seen as an addition to insurance, often an after thought - this is even highlighted by putting the 'Re' in brackets ➡ (Re)insurance... 💡 The solutions we currently have aren't fit for purpose and they won't fit the same mold as insurance. Do we need to change our perspective?  💭 Supercede's only thought is reinsurance - never an after thought - that's where innovation lies. Lukky A. 🚀 Kamil Kluza Norm Ai has raised $27 million in Series A funding led by Coatue and supported by Bain Capital , Blackstone Innovations Investments, New York Life Ventures, Citi Ventures, TIAA Ventures, and Jefferson River Capital. Norm Ai, led by Susan Dudley Troy A. Paredes Kate Karas & Vanessa De Simone, have developed an AI platform that converts regulations into computer code. These Regulatory AI Agents automate compliance analyses, enabling insurance companies and asset managers to publish regulated content faster. Micruity,  a financial technology infrastructure company, has raised $5 million in funding from Prudential, State Street Global Advisors, TIAA Ventures, Pacific Life, and Western & Southern Financial Group, bringing its total funding to $11 million. Climate insurance startup IBISA NETWORK  has closed a $3 million funding round to scale its parametric insurance solutions for weather-related risks in Asia and Africa. The round was led by The Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund and Equator, alongside the Asian Development Bank Ventures and existing investors including Ankur Capital. Jean-Baptiste PLEYNET Maria Mateo Iborra Kinetic Automation Pvt Ltd,  an automotive infrastructure company that delivers digital maintenance and servicing for EVs and AVs through its network of service centers, has secured $21 million in Series B funding led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Lux Capital, Construct Capital, Haystack Ventures, Allstate Strategic Ventures and Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures. London-based PQShield  , a cybersecurity company specializing in post-quantum cryptography, has raised $37 million in Series B funding led by Addition, with participation from Chevron Technology Ventures, Legal & General, Braavos Capital, and Oxford Science Enterprises.
