We recently completed a four floor innovative workplace fit-out on behalf of Lloyds Banking Group on Portland Street, Manchester. The state-of-the-art refurbishment has transformed the office space into a workplace that has been intentionally planned to encourage collaboration and with a focus on neurodiversity. The floors now house around 2,000 employees and include a range of facilities, including walking workstations, focus desk areas, an accessible fully equipped fitness suite, music room, a contemplation room and a new cafe. We’re delighted to celebrate structural completion of The Ribbon with M&G Real Estate. https://lnkd.in/eEus9kTq The Ribbon will be a luxury retail and commercial facility on London’s Oxford Street, due to be completed in 2025. It will span 70,000 sq ft of office space and 21,000 sq ft of flagship retail space. We are very proud of our role in reimagining this space for people to thrive and pleased that this project has given back to local communities. Through this project, we have supported 237 students through education programmes, employed 6 local people, and offered 7 work experience placements to equip individuals with the skills and confidence for future success in the construction sector. We have also partnered with local charity, the Children’s Book Project, who provide free books to children who need them most. Over the last five years at sites across the country, Wates has donated nearly 50,000 books – The Ribbon is the latest donation point to be installed. #retail #commercial #construction #London

We are hugely proud of Helen Bunch, Managing Director for Wates Residential who won Woman of the Year at Property Week's Inspiring Women in Property awards. Helen’s career at Wates has spanned an impressive 18 years and under her leadership, the residential team has grown exponentially. Wates Residential now has over 10,000 homes in delivery or development pipeline for the next 5 years and an industry-leading health and safety record. Helen’s passion for promoting the industry and the opportunities it offers, especially to those from backgrounds currently under-represented in the industry, is unrivalled. She advocates for diversity and inclusion by using her knowledge of the sector to support initiatives such as engaging with schools and supporting career programmes, and mentoring people both inside and outside of Wates. With Helen’s direction, the Wates Residential board now has almost 50/50 gender diversity. She established the Women at Wates network and grew it to more than 500 women, creating a supportive community that champions female empowerment and professional growth. She also leads our Race & Allies network, that works to ensure a culture where colleagues of all backgrounds feel valued. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, our Group Public Sector Director, Stephen Beechey took part in a four-day bike ride to raise funds for the The Veterans' Foundation. Stephen joined organiser, Michael Green, Chief Executive of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and other participants from other industry partners, on the ride across northern France, paying their respects at the beaches of Normandy, Pegasus Bridge, and Merville Battery, and laying a wreath at Ranville Cemetery.
