We’ve now published the State of Theatre Access 2023 report. Aiming to identify the access services offered at UK theatres, and how they remove barriers for theatregoers. Thanks to the team of volunteer researchers, our partners StageText and The Centre for Accessible Environments, and everyone who has been involved in producing the report. While there’s still need for improvements, its positive that The number of accessible productions has increased to 85% of those surveyed. We’re delighted to announce Claire Saddleton as VocalEyes’ new CEO. Starting in May 2024, Claire brings a wealth of leadership experience to her new role with a passion for inclusion in the arts and heritage. Claire will lead VocalEyes through this next critical phase in delivering the charity’s mission. Claire said of her new role, “It’s an honour to be appointed as CEO of VocalEyes, a company which plays a vital role in the development and delivery of audio description, enabling access for blind and visually impaired people to enjoy a full range of cultural experiences. I’m looking forward to working with the dedicated staff team, Board, freelancers, and cultural organisations who are central to its success.
