Unity Insurance are proud to be the insurers for Whitley Bay Scout Hut and were delighted to hear this good news story of support from their local community. The Whitley Bay Scout Hut was in a bad state of repair, but as it was vital to the community, Michelle Parrack, The Scouts group leader for the 21st Whitley Bay Scouts, called the BBC Radio #Newcastle breakfast show to ask for help from local tradesmen in a DIY SOS-style community revamp. Following this plea, Presenter Matt Bailey and the breakfast team went down to the building to get ‘stuck in’ and meet the tradesmen and locals who committed to helping for free with the renovation. Michelle said she was "emotional and speechless" at the kindness of people coming forward to lend a hand.
