Work is progressing on our new Edinburgh development, which is a first-of-its-kind: https://lnkd.in/edsW46s5 Burnet Point, our 401-bed, mixed-use site, in the city centre, has total costs of £59million. Uniquely, it will have 298 student beds, 49 private-rented, plus 17 affordable apartments and is also our lowest carbon new-build to date, with dedicated commercial space. It will use low-carbon concrete and timber composite, an environmentally friendly alternative to natural wood. Its life cycle assessment is currently 702 kgCO2e/m2 (carbon emission equivalent per square metre), the lowest in the Group’s new-build portfolio. Burnet Point is set to be complete in September 2025, ready for the 2025/26 academic year. Tom Brewerton, our Group Development Director, said: “We are excited to build our lowest carbon new-build property to date in our portfolio. We look forward to contributing positively to the student and private rental market in Edinburgh to help address the supply-demand imbalance in the city.” #PBSA #studentaccommodation Benjamin Pusey Lawrence Rojas-Mulligan Vicky King Nicholas Pigula Josh Wright

Our Higher Education External Engagement Director, Jenny Shaw, was on the Universities UK Taskforce on Student Drug Use, here's what she learnt: https://lnkd.in/eFu3quWT We've sponsored UUK's recent report for the higher education sector on tackling supply and demand for drugs and reducing harm, and have supported the initiative since it started in 2021. The report asks helpful questions about how the safety and wellbeing of students can be supported. We also launched a cross-sector working group to develop additional guidance for student accommodation teams around this topic, last year, and are now continuing that work. Jenny said: "This should help to bring clarity. The guidance paves the way for a more consistent approach to student drug use across the sector as a whole, one that is based on research, expert input and proven effective practice." #studentaccommodation

Today we announce our confidence in delivering 98-99% occupancy for the 2024/25 academic year. Our Q2 trading update includes our expectation to deliver rental growth of at least 7% for the next academic year. This is driven by property value increases. The update also includes planning approval for a 934-bed development in Glasgow, with full planning consent anticipated in the coming months, to support delivery for the 2027/28 academic year. Our Chief Executive Joe Lister said: “Student demand remains strong from both domestic and international students, reflecting the continued appeal of UK higher education, our fixed-priced, all-inclusive offer and the growing shortage of high-quality student homes." #PBSA #studentaccommodation
