For the first time ever, this year UKSIF hosted and took part in panels at both main party conferences. First up was Labour Party Conference, where our CEO James Alexander joined The Purpose Coalition to discuss how to get to net zero whilst addressing social and health inequalities. We were then delighted to host a panel at Labour Party Conference, to explore investing in green and how to deliver Labour’s climate and environmental plans in Government. James was joined by Alistair Strathern MP, who is Private Parliamentary Secretary to the Chancellor, and Tanisha Aggarwal, Co-Chair of Labour in the City. Thank you to the Labour Climate and Environment Forum for arranging the panel and for hosting a packed out session. Hot on the heels of Labour Party Conference, our Head of Public Affairs and Communications Joe Dharampal-Hornby took part in our panel at Conservative Party Conference on what the conservative approach to investing in net zero should be. He was Joined by Harriet Cross MP, former Trade Secretary The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Shahbano Soomro, Deputy Head of Advocacy at Impax Asset Management and economist Liam Halligan. Thank you to the Conservative Environment Network for helping to arrange a lively and very timely discussion. We were delighted to be engaging with politicians at the party conferences, representing our members views and advocating for a landscape which would encourage green growth and investment in the UK.
