    Scottish Secretary Ian Murray visited Babcock International Group at Rosyth, to meet the team responsible for building the new Type 31 frigates. On the agenda - 🔴 A meeting with the trade unions, to discuss the current challenges and opportunities for the workers 🔴 A progress update on the Type 31 frigate delivery process, a crucial part of the UK’s National Shipbuilding Strategy 🔴 Getting up close with a groundbreaking recycling programme, which will see the first nuclear-powered boat, HMS Swiftsure, recycled in the UK as a test case for 26 other decommissioned vessels 🔴 Babcock’s plans to secure investment in the Forth Green Freeport. Scotland’s Green Freeports are located at Inverness & Cromarty Firth and the Firth of Forth. Both freeports are set to receive 📢 £26 million 📢 from the UK Government, to bring industry and investment to these regions.

    Gillian McGregor has been appointed as a member of the Boundary Commission for Scotland. The appointment is initially for a period of eight years. What is the Boundary Commission for Scotland? ⭕ An advisory non-departmental public body, which is independent, non-political and funded by the Scotland Office. ⭕ It is constituted by the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, and in Schedule 1 to the Scotland Act 1998. ⭕The Commission is responsible for reviews of constituencies in Scotland for the Westminster Parliament. The reviews ensure that each constituency has roughly the same number of electors. Secretary of State for Scotland, Ian Murray said: "It’s great news that Gillian McGregor has accepted the post as a member of the Boundary Commission for Scotland. Gillian brings vast experience and invaluable specialist knowledge. She will be an important part of the team and no doubt add significant strength to the work of the Commission.
