About us
UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent. We produce an annual celebration during pride month, as well as a variety of activities throughout the year in and around the UK, which also promote and advocate for the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual health and wellbeing of the communities we represent. UK Black Pride is a safe space to celebrate diverse sexualities, gender identities, cultures, gender expressions and backgrounds and we foster, represent and celebrate Black LGBTQ and QTIPOC culture through education, the arts, cultural events and advocacy. Importantly, UK Black Pride promotes unity and cooperation among LGBTQ+ people of diasporic communities in the UK, as well as their friends and families. In the words of Audre Lorde: “There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives. Our struggles are particular, but we are not alone.”

🌈 UK Black Pride is excited to announce the launch of the 2024 Community Action Fund! This fund aims to support organisations that advocate for LGBTQIA+ Black individuals and people of color across the UK. Who can apply? Applications are welcome from community groups, organisations, charities with an annual turnover of less than £1m, religious groups, and individuals based in the UK with a UK bank account. Funding Amounts: - Minimum: £1,000 - Maximum: £6,000 Focus Areas for 2024: - Spaces, places, and visibility - Mental and emotional well-being - Safety in public spaces - The workplace Please note, the CAF will not fund Government Departments/Organisations, NGOs, or political parties. This morning, I had the privilege of sitting down with UK Black Pride Executive Director and Co-Founder Phyll Opoku-Gyimah and it was nothing short of transformative.
