⛴Our Policy Manager for Ferry & Cruise, Ilias Bafounis, experienced the Sound of Seil ferry journey from Mclnroy's Point to Hunter's Quay. An excellent opportunity for Ilias to better engage with our member WESTERN FERRIES (CLYDE) LIMITED and understand their needs, while also enjoying a tour of their offices. Thanks to WESTERN FERRIES (CLYDE) LIMITED for their continued support and collaboration. #ferry #shippingindustry #maritime
Despite the recent upheaval of my travel plans, I wanted to thank Graeme Fletcher and his colleagues for the warm welcome I received while visiting the WESTERN FERRIES (CLYDE) LIMITED offices. It was an easy and quick ride from McInroy’s Point to Hunter’s Quay onboard one of their 4 vessels, where I had the opportunity to talk with people and understand their daily work better and how the UK Chamber of Shipping can support them. The stunning views of the upper Firth of the Clyde is definitely worth it. #shipping #ferries

This morning, we met with Indonesia’s government delegation at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as part of the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme. Chamber representatives Francesco Sandrelli and Katrina Ross attended the meeting to discuss the EU and UK maritime environmental strategy, emphasising the need for a global carbon price and reinvesting revenues into shipping #decarbonisation.🌍♻ Discussions also centred around practicalities and mechanisms of #GHG pricing for international and domestic #shipping, aligning with the ongoing Intersessional Working Group on reducing GHG emissions from Ships (ISWG-GHG 17) talks held this week at the #IMO. For more information on the #UKPACT, read below.👇 #Indonesia #ClimateAction #NetZero #CarbonPricing #ClimateChange #ShippingIndustry #GreenShipping
Today, 🇬🇧 the UK Chamber of Shipping ⚓️ met with a large delegation from 🇲🇨 the Indonesian government, as part of the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme. 🌏 It was very timely to have this meeting at the 🇺🇳⚓️ International Maritime Organization whilst the IMO discussions on a global carbon pricing mechanism for international shipping are underway. The UK PACT programme is governed and funded by Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change. 🌱 Environment Policy Director Francesco Sandrelli (with me providing commercial perspectives) provided an in-depth session on EU and UK maritime environmental strategy and policy development. Much focus was placed on role, mechanics and practicalities of carbon/GHG pricing 🏛 for international and domestic shipping, as part of a wider maritime net zero strategy. We also highlighted the need to reuse revenues raised for maritime and shipping decarbonisation, and the importance of a global carbon price governed by the IMO for international shipping, to address carbon leakage. We were delighted to exchange views with the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, Ministry for Environmental and Forestey Management, Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, as well as with the Head of Carbon Trading and Director from the Indonesian Stock Exchange. Many thanks to Ricardo plc for organising the session!
