Our Policy Manager for Ferry & Cruise, Ilias Bafounis, was delighted to jump on board P&O Ferries ⛴ last Thursday for a round trip from #Dover to #Calais. Having recently joined the Chamber, Ilias found the tour of the P&O Ferries facilities and operations ideal for witnessing the industry first-hand and increasing his already extensive knowledge. As we celebrate our Summer Lunch in this breathtaking venue, The Signet Library, we would like to thank the 220+ guests who joined us today in #Edinburgh. Our President JB Rae-Smith, who was delighted to join his 1st Summer Lunch as President of the Chamber, said: "One of my priorities is to make Scotland and the wider UK the best place possible to run a shipping business. Shipping delivers so much for Scotland, much of which is highlighted in our Value of Shipping for Scotland Report published last year. "Today, I’m especially pleased to have David Whitehouse, Chief Executive of Offshore Energies UK, as a speaker. I’d also like to thank our sponsors, Seapeak, the Port of Aberdeen, Tidewater and Witherbys, for their kind support for today’s event." Happy Day of the Seafarer!🎊⚓ To honour this day, we'd like to share a few pictures from yesterday's event where our CEO, Rhett Hatcher, addressed our charity member Stella Maris Org during their annual reception. Rhett emphasised the importance of supporting this charity, which works hard to support the #health, #safety and #wellbeing of all #seafares with 80 volunteers in the UK who conduct around 6,000 ship visits annually. Here are a few things he highlighted: ⚓Our joint work with unions to keep seafarers safe in places such as the Red Sea and closer to home ⚓The Cadet Welfare Group we have created alongside the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Nautilus International to allow cadets to raise issues and concerns in the rare instances these cannot be solved with their employer or training management company ⚓The sheer reliance we have on shipping to deliver the food, energy and other essential supplies we need – none of which would be possible without seafarers! All Chamber seafarer safety resources can be found on our website 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZ8ac_xZ #SafetyTipsAtSea
