Tysers Live theatre team had a fantastic time at the World Fringe congress in Stockholm, which took place 26th – 30th August. Tim Thornhill, Andy Villa, AIF® , Tamsin Edwards and Danielle Ward all flew out to attend the bi-annual meeting of Fringe producers, managers, directors and leaders. Tamsin Edwards said, “What an inspiring and creative bunch of individuals; we were lucky to be a part of the Fringe Family and welcomed with open arms. I enjoyed assisting those with understanding the risks, listening to their needs, and helping them to grow their Fringe Organisations. Tim Thornhill and Andy Villa had a panel talk which really related to the various global fringes and sparked great conversations throughout the day. The report provides an in-depth analysis of the Clubs’ financial results over the past 12 months, ranks them in terms of their performance and considers their strengths and capabilities in terms of market direction and challenges. Distributed to a global audience, the report is a pragmatic review of the state of the P&I market from Tysers’ expert and highly-skilled P&I team. Key takeaways include: - Clubs have experienced a lower frequency of claims but with higher values on the more serious incidents. - Overall, claims are up on the previous year but remain well below the levels of prior years. - Majority of Clubs achieved a technical surplus and, bolstered by solid investment returns, International Group free reserves grew by over $800m. - Clubs are continuing to diversify into new products. Tysers Live takes on Music Mudder for Nordoff and Robbins! On Friday 13th September Tim Thornhill, Nat Somerset, Henry Long, Maddison Hicks, Katie Murrell Cert CII and Chris Ball will tackle a challenging outdoor endurance course with a series of tough obstacles, raising money for Nordoff & Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity. The UK manufacturing sector has seen increased funding, particularly across Scotland where recent news has reported a £5.6m backing for a Moray manufacturing innovation centre, a £67m upgrade underway at GSK’s Montrose facility and £14m levelling up funding made available to support Glasgow manufacturers. Although increased investment in manufacturing is great news for the sector, new or expanding manufacturers also need to make sure they are protected against all risks to their business. Stephen Leader, Dip CII, Tysers Wholesale, is put under the spotlight in our latest broker profile. What is your role and responsibility at Tysers? I am a Director within the International Financial and Professional Risks team. My role involves broking, servicing client accounts as well as supporting my team with administrative tasks.   What do you like most about working at Tysers? There is a nice atmosphere at Tysers. It has a strong sense of camaraderie and togetherness!   How did you get into insurance? Like most, I fell into insurance after completing my history degree at university. My first job was in travel claims, my role has changed quite a bit since then! What is the technology product/application that is of most use to you? I think the Internet has been as impactful as the first agricultural and industrial revolutions before them. We take for granted the use of things like WhatsApp and internet banking on a day-to-day basis. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? Jiu Jitsu or an improvement on my language skills! Do you have a favourite quote? “You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged.
