Since joining us in 2010 with little construction experience, our Commercial Manager, Barry Kirkham has become a seasoned shrink-wrap expert and an invaluable part of the business. We recently sat down with Barry and discussed his responsibilities and challenges, which include restructuring the business and team following COVID-19, upgrading our in-house systems and prioritising the customer. "Our strength has always been customer satisfaction; I don't want to see that slip." As Barry explains, it's about being proactive, flexible, and constantly finding solutions. Leading Supplier of Shrink-Wrap Materials, Training & Installations for Weather Protection & Environmental Containment.
About us
Tufcoat is a leading supplier of shrink-wrap materials, training and installations for weather protection & environmental containment. Operating within a range of sectors including scaffolding, construction, offsite manufacturing, aviation, conservation, heavy industry and marine, our customers all have similar requirements relating to their projects schedule, asset protection or the public image of a site. Our shrink-wrap creates a flexible barrier against adverse weather, site pollution or dirt and grime during shipping and is used to contain or shield sites, cover structures and protect assets of any size or shape for transport or storage. By creating a ‘drum tight’ and tear resistant covering, Tufcoat is able to stand up to the most severe weather conditions, eliminating the problem of detached sheeting or covers and emergency repairs. Should access be required for a site or asset to attached lifting points, zipped doors of different sizes can be installed and shrink-wrap can always be cut open and re-sealed to maintain its integrity. Tufcoat shrink-wrap is available in different thicknesses (190µm - 300µm) and a variety of sizes to suit applications. Our 300µm construction grade products are certified flame retardant to TS62 and TS63, British Standard 13501, European B1 and M1 standards, ensuring all safety requirements on the site are met. In addition to this our shrink-wrap has UV stabilization, tested to ISO 4892-2 exposures, ensuring a minimum of 12 months stability for longer-term projects. Tufcoat Ltd is accredited to the globally recognised quality standards ISO9001, ISO 14001, ISO45001 and has also been acknowledged by the Considerate Construction Schemes' Best Practice including its Company and Supplier Awards.

Tufcoat was recently contracted to supply and install a temporary waterproofing screen on the south wall of a listed building project for Mace in Whitefriars, London. Our solution will ensure the interior of the building remains safe from water ingress during critical demolition works. The independent temporary waterproofing screen will span the ground floor to the third level of the building and will be installed before the demolition of the external wall. Additionally, we will attach a protective sheet material at the bottom of the screen to safeguard the floor edge during demolition. This proactive approach will maintain the building’s integrity throughout the project. #ShrinkWrapSolutions #WaterproofingScreen #ListedBuildingProtection

We recently supplied our shrink-wrap solutions to Glencar during the construction of the new LHR21 data centre in Acton, near Heathrow Airport. Glencar Construction needed a weatherproofing solution to keep the project on track and our shrink-wrap construction screens provided the perfect answer. Tufcoat installed shrink-wrap across five floors, over five phases, ensuring internal works could proceed without further delays. Despite windy conditions, we completed the project on time, with Glencar commending us on our commitment to health and safety. With the Premier League about to kick off again this weekend, we'd like to share our recent project from Villa Park, part of the Aston Villa Football Club store refit and expansion. We oversaw the erection of the subframe to hold the banner with support from PJM SCAFFOLDING CONTRACTORS LTD and managed the installation of the 500m2 PVC wrap. The banner, in Villa's Claret club colours, wrapped around 2 elevations and measured over 50m. It featured the club’s logo, official kit partner Adidas and the tifo “All our heroes are villains” The office and banner are next to the Villa shop – so fans, watch for it! #Buildingwrap #PVC #premierleague

Kieran Walsh, our contracts manager, has just returned from Scotland, where he’s been on-site overseeing and assisting in our first project for an exciting new client. We’re working with Ryanair, demonstrating the benefits of our shrink-wrap solutions by encapsulating sections of a Boeing 737 fuselage using our 190µm flame retardant shrink-wrap. This protective wrap ensures the parts remain safe and undamaged during their 4-6 week storage period as the aircraft undergoes an overhaul. #Aviation #ShrinkWrapSolutions #Tufcoat

Our show-stopping project at the heart of Covent Garden was created using a visually stunning PVC mesh building wrap for Regal House, part of Capco’s greening initiative. Project highlights: • Scope: Wrap scaffolding during living wall installation • Main Contractor: Overbury • Client: Capco • Solution: PVC mesh banner As part of the redevelopment project, we delivered a stunning 900m2 mesh wrap which screened the installation of a beautiful living wall designed by Biotecture featuring over 8,000 plants across 1,500 sq ft of the building’s façade. In just one evening, the team hoisted the wrap, which weighed around 1,000kg, into position and then carefully tensioned it around the staircase, goods hoist and corner of the longest elevation. All while adhering to strict noise control regulations from Westminster Council. Want to know more about this innovative project? We’re excited that Tufcoat has been appointed to provide multiple containment solutions on the Ouse Bridge along the M62. This busy motorway bridge between Goole and Howden in Yorkshire has been undergoing critical repairs after routine investigations identified a partial joint failure on the eastbound carriageway. Winvic Construction Ltd contracted by National Highways, has been leading the project in inspecting and repairing the bearing joints. Our shrink-wrap is installed around scaffolding to contain the blasting and painting works, ensuring a safe and controlled environment for grit blasting and painting experts Jack Tighe Group - The Name In Painting. These containment solutions are essential for completing the repairs efficiently, helping minimise disruption to this vital infrastructure. We’re proud to play a role in maintaining and improving our national road network. #InfrastructureProject #BridgeRenovation #ContainmentSolutions #ConstructionInnovation

Time for a #throwback to an exciting modular project from November 2014! We had the pleasure of working for Williams Southern, the retail and forecourt construction specialists, to provide modular shrink wrap for Sainsbury’s innovative modular kiosks. These kiosks are part of a new way to construct smaller fuel stations, called Micro Fuel Stations, for sites where traditional methods would be too large. Once constructed, the kiosks needed long-haul transportation to Sainsbury’s, which is where we came in . Using 190µm Tufcoat Shrink Wrap, we ensured these high-value modules arrived at their destination in pristine condition, ready for assembly. This is a perfect example of how our solutions help to provide efficient, damage-free transportation for modular constructions. Want to know more about this project? We recently completed an exciting project for EWS Logistics Ltd, wrapping a 982 Caterpillar for its 6–8-week journey from Southampton to Australia. A challenging task, our team utilized Tufcoat’s advanced shrink wrap techniques to fully encapsulate the huge machine, safeguarding it against the elements and potential damage throughout its long voyage. The 982 Caterpillar arrived safely, and we were delighted to receive positive from Liz at EWS following the project's completion: "Tufcoat are a pleasure to work with. The communication with the team is always professional and helpful, and the quality of their work is excellent. I highly recommend Tufcoat and will not hesitate to pick up the phone for my next job." We're proud to support such a significant logistical exercise and to play a crucial role in protecting valuable equipment during international transport. #ShrinkWrap #EquipmentProtection #LogisticsSolutions #CustomerSatisfaction #Testimonial
