"You can have an expert in anything you want, but you can't have anything you want, in an expert". These words have always stuck with me. From the lips of a High Court Judge, no less (as they then were). Wait. What does it actually mean? In effect - It's possible to get an expert witness for pretty much any aspect of a case you'd like, but getting the expert doesn't mean they will support everything you want them to...their duty is to the court. Sometimes parties end up fighting it out for permission to use certain experts, they get it and don't like what they see. The other side can infer that (often do and will jump on it, fast). So, having an expert, is not automatically the same as having support for your position. It goes to a much wider point, which is about knowing your case, understanding cause and effect and then... Choosing wisely.
