Theale Green School Alumni reposted this
Year 12 were encouraged to think about their next steps at a Futures Day last week, where they looked at #university, #apprenticeships and #employment. Many thanks to Graham Waton from the University of Bath who spoke about all aspects of university from choosing courses / institutions through to social life and finances. Thank you too to Rachael Hitch from Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Alison Delius from the University of West London who spoke about apprenticeships - how they work, what to expect and what kind of roles are available. We also had four of our alumni students come back to speak about their experiences. Kyra Radley spoke about University of Oxford - the challenges of independent working, the social life and how coming from a state school shouldn’t be a barrier to aspirations. Chloe Sanger spoke about Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd where she is studying, how she chose the university and her course - Urban Planning and Development Charlie Bennetts talked the importance of following your dreams and Betty Chisumo inspired the students to consider apprenticeships as you get qualifications, work experience, an income and social life. She is with Deloitte and has already passed her first exams towards her ACA qualification.
