Today is the #InternationalDayofCharity! 💙 Collaboration is at the heart of what we do here at the Wise Group and we work with incredible charities up and down the country every day. Every customers needs are different and no matter whether we are supporting a customer with energy, employment, or someone who has just left the justice system, liaising with other charities and organisations ensures everybody can get the support that they need in and around their own communities. From providing volunteering opportunities to support, charities help us to change our customers lives for the better and help us create a sustainable, long-term impact within our relational mentoring framework. In Scotland, we have worked with over 350 charities and partners this year alone, with similar amounts in England across all of our projects too. On today, the International Day of Charity we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank the charities across the country who worked alongside us to support our customers. These groups put food on our families tables, put clothes on their backs and even made sure the wee ones in our customers lives got a visit from the big man in red at Christmas. Thank you to all who work in the charity sector to make things better for others. #Collaboration #Kindness #Charity

At the Wise Group, we’re encouraged by the First Minister’s focus on child poverty in the Programme for Government, but it’s clear more bold, joined-up action is needed. For years, we’ve advocated for an ‘and not or’ approach—combining financial support with holistic, practical help. Our Relational Mentoring service proves this works: a £5m investment generated £50m in social impact, transforming the lives of 3,000 households facing fuel poverty and other challenges. Now is the time to shift from talking about outcomes to delivering real change. Let’s invest in what works and drive lasting impact for Scotland’s communities. Our most recent report is live now. Take a look on our website. https://lnkd.in/eg98_-gz #SocialImpact #RelationalMentoring #ChildPoverty

💙 #WiseWinWednesday 💙 When you aren’t seeing our colleague Brendan at a partnership event or working hard around the community to tell anyone and everyone about the work we do at the Wise Group, you might catch him playing a bit of footy! 🙋♂️ Brendan appeared in the papers this week, in an article recognising his work to include new members of his community who have recently settled in Inverclyde, via football. He hurdled boundaries when he noticed some of his new team mates couldn’t afford football boots and set about utilising his local charitable connections to get suitable gear for them:   “I’ve been managing the team now since 2021, over the last few months we have welcomed several New Scots up to training and they have played some games with us too. I always say to the players that we aren’t just a team on the park but one off the park too so it’s an absolute privilege to be able to welcome players who have just moved here. Perhaps some of them are feeling isolated but by coming and playing with us we can hopefully make them feel part of the community and they can now class the 20 or so players in the squad as their friends.”   Brendan is a true representation of our Wise Group values, which stretch way beyond the walls of our work place! Kind and ambitious to make a difference every day, both on and off the pitch. Well done Brendan! ⚽️💙

Overall, a hugely successful day! Let us know how you found it in the comments! 👇

Relational mentoring isn’t just about getting a customer from A to B, it’s about working to connect and have an honest conversation about what a customer really needs over time, and working together to overcome those barriers. Rehabilitation is not just as simple as getting out of prison and fitting straight back in to your community. Leaving prison can be scary, and being honest to yourself and to those trying to support you about what you need help with is not always the easiest conversation to have. Our mentors work with individuals over time, allowing those honest conversations to be had, and steps forward to be taken, creating sustainable and long term positive change for these customers and their communities. Adam Mccormick, from HMP Low Moss, sums up what individuals can face when they leave prison and what our relational mentoring approach can do to help in the video below. Our colleagues truly have gone the distance as of late, reaching their goal of 3000 customers signed on to one of our projects in Scotland. Relational mentoring is our approach that we use to change lives and help our customers overcome barriers every day. Our colleagues work extremely hard mentoring customers, but also reaching out to partners, other organisations and community links to ensure no matter someone’s circumstances or needs, they know where to find us and that we are here to help. 3000 customers is an amazing milestone and a huge congratulations to all involved, including our colleagues Allyson, David, Kevin, Maureen, Nabila, John, LisaMarie, Susan, Brendan, Lorraine, Ann, Heather and Danielle who have been out in the community working hard to reach this goal! 💙

Within our Voluntary Throughcare Grant application, working within communities, helping individuals access local services is key. When somebody leaves prison, we want them to stay out of prison. By making sure someone feels secure, safe and supported in their own community, this can help create sustainable change for that individual. Learn more about what we and our partners have focused on in the video below! 💙👇 #Rehabilitation #RelationalMentoring #Partnership
