Last Monday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the amazing The Crown Estate team to Projekt Renewable! It was an honour to have the sponsors of our Plant + Paddle program join us to experience it firsthand – and what a time they had! The smiles say it all really… A huge thank you to our Plant +Paddle delivery team for bringing the session to life for the Crown Estate, and to Nic Till at Riverhead Coffee for bringing a hearty lunch for the team, and to Tredici for the moreish pizzas that fuelled the social in the evening! From exploring marine biology in the water to planting sessions on land, followed by an evening social, it was a joy to host the Crown Estate team and the interns currently working their way through the marine internship programme. It was great to hear all about the work the interns have been doing country-wide and get their thoughts on Projekt Renewable, its goals and its impact so far. The conversations with our fab patron truly sowed the seeds for growth, and we couldn’t be more grateful for The Crown Estate’s support this year. Want to get involved? So grateful to have The Crown Estate in our corner - congratulations team!!
Fantastic news for a Friday as it's been a week of award wins and nominations for The Crown Estate! 🎉 On Tuesday, alongside design partners Radley Yeldar, we won 'Best Use of Data' for our Marine Data Exchange (MDE) at the Digital Impact Awards! The MDE is a world-leading collection of #marine industry survey data and this award celebrates the innovative use of #data to enhance stakeholder #engagement, improve decision-making and deliver measurable results. Also on Tuesday, at the Global #OffshoreWind Awards, the Joint Offshore Wind and Air Defence Programme won the #Collaboration award which, alongside other organisations, members of our Offshore Wind team have contributed to. Our brilliant Offshore Wind Evidence and Change programme (OWEC) was also nominated in the same category! Alan Chivers from our #Health, #Safety & Wellbeing team was also nominated for the 'Unsung Hero' award and was Highly Commended. And last night, at the Building #Innovation Awards, we won 'Resilient Infrastructure Innovation / Project of the Year' for our Whole Of Seabed programme! Sunday, 13th October was a day to remember as the Grimsby community came together for The Big Replant at Projekt Renewable. After months of hard work by local children, who created a stunning floral display this summer, their efforts were destroyed in one destructive act. But, on Sunday, we showed that no setback could keep us down for long. With smiles, laughter, and plenty of snacks, volunteers of all ages turned out to help restore the planters and breathe new life into the area. Every single plant was replanted, and the dock now looks more beautiful than ever, a true testament to the power of unity. New security measures have been put in place to protect what we’ve rebuilt, but if this is what it takes, we’ll replant every time! The couple responsible underestimated the strength of our spirit, and more importantly, the resilience of our community. With a huge group effort and the overwhelming support of our Plant + Paddle delivery partners, we’ve proven that nothing can stop us! In recognition of International Podcast Day, we couldn't miss the opportunity to reflect on our very own foray in The Studio. When we first started The Podkast with Richard Askam, it was just an idea, a small way to give our community and those involved in Projekt renewable a literal voice, sharing the stories that matter. Since then, it has grown into something entirely of its own making. So much so that guests do not need coercing, but rather actively seek to be involved - who would have thought! Of course, The Podkast wouldn’t have built up to this without the incredible people who have been rooting for us, and it, from the get-go. Special shout out to Fin Gray for his help in laying the very best foundations for The Podkast and continuing to support it, our patrons, guests, and all of you who tune in! We’ve shared laughs, interests, and some unforgettable moments over the episodes, and the best part? We’re just getting started. If you’re as passionate as we are about making a difference, we’d love for you to be part of our next chapter. Get in touch if you’re ready to share your story or collaborate on an upcoming episode. Let’s keep growing, together. We’ve teamed up with CATCH, Drax, Equinor, Harbour Energy, SSE Thermal, and VPI to create an educational video for children about the industry’s commitment to a sustainable future. “What is Decarbonisation?” explains transformative technologies such as carbon capture and lower carbon hydrogen, while highlighting diverse career opportunities in the industry. The Humber region is the UK’s largest industrial emitting cluster, making it one of the biggest opportunities for decarbonisation. We need to make sure that we are not only inspiring the next generation to take this forward but educate them on what decarbonisation is, the technologies that will make this happen and the job opportunities available. Thank you to the talented students at Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire for helping us share this important message.

Future Grimsby Footsteps Tours: Join us on a visionary tour of Grimsby’s town centre, where we will showcase the future sites and plans for the regeneration projects that will transform our town centre. This walking tour will highlight upcoming developments like the mixed retail and leisure conversion at Freshney Place, the green space seating area of Riverhead Square, and the introduction of innovative spaces such as the NHS Diagnostic Centre and Horizon Youth Zone. Although visible changes are just beginning, with only the youth zone, St James House and diagnostic centre currently underway, this tour will provide a glimpse into the future, explaining how each project will contribute to turning our town centre into a thriving community hub. It’s a of just about retail anymore; it's about creating a town centre where the community can come together. Join us to see where and how these changes will unfold, making Grimsby a better place to live, work, and play. We will start the tour at St James Hotel and enjoy a coffee to takeaway. We will commence the tour with the regeneration of St James House in St James Square and finish the tour at Projekt Renewable near the Fishing Heritage Centre. The recent plant theft at PRG may have cast a shadow over our feed recently, but you know what? The outpouring of support from the community has absolutely drowned out any negativity that the destruction of the Plant + Paddle planters attempted to impart. The offers of support, time, money and foliage have been nothing short of epic, so thank you from everyone at PRG, Target NEL, The Crown Estate and the Plant + Paddle delivery team. So, while alongside Joanne Lord we’re pulling all this resource together to bring the community together in true ‘make do and mend fashion’, here’s a reminder of why we are doing what we’re doing, why we will come back bigger and better, why these plants will be replaced and truly rooted. It’s for them. For their future and ours. Their planters may have been destroyed, but the core memories they built, the imaginations that were sparked, and the things they learnt during these sessions can never be taken away. If you’d like to be involved in this community drive or feel you can help, please get in touch with us at [email protected]. The Environmental A-team assembled for Episode 4, Season 2 of The Podkast, ready to bring everyone a much-needed boost of positivity after this week’s less than inspiring start… We may well have faced some needless destruction earlier this week but as our Director Rich says, we will not be beaten, we will replant and we will grow! And this gang is here to prove it. Looking back over the summer activity at PRG and the joy that Plant + Paddle served up to the community is what makes it all worth while. And we’ve given it plenty of airtime… now it’s the turn of our fab delivery team, without which Plant + Paddle wouldn’t have happened. The Autumn/Winter program of events and activities due to be taking place at Projekt is almost ready for its big reveal, so, while we keep you patiently waiting a little longer, take some time out to sit down with Toni-Ann Buckle-Weavers, Richard Askam, James Elliott, Hannah Woods, Joanne Lord. A huge thank you once again to The Crown Estate for kindly sponsoring this activity and helping us spark the curiosity of 100 or so kids - they had THE best time!
