Every day we are lucky enough to be served chef quality food by our amazing House Chefs at Benwell, George and Santos. Our team enjoys nutritious, affordable and to be quite honest, delicious, meals everyday and we believe this feeds the JO teams in more ways than one! 🏳️🌈 HAPPY PRIDE! 🏳️🌈 With our HQ based in London, we thought it fitting to mark Pride month in time for the London Pride this weekend. We are so proud to be celebrating Pride and the brilliant work of the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly in the world of food! This week, we had the fantastic Rico Jacob Chace come into Benwell to give a brilliant Lunch & Learn session on how to be more of an ally and the history of Pride and what it stands for. He talked us through the right terminologies and different identities, to ensure we have access to toolkits for inclusive language in the workplace and beyond. An incredibly insightful session - a huge thank you to Rico Jacob Chace! She has transformed the food culture in her school and community, cooking 120 extra meals every week for those who need it. 🏆 The Sun's Catering Team Champions, Chef Hugo & Team, Reach Academy, London Chef Hugo is central to the school, creating a hugely positive food culture for the students. Nutritious lunches made from scratch for 2-18 year olds, served up all together around a family-style table - fantastic! 🏆 Joe Wicks’ Food for Fuel Award, Jen Craven Ysgol Trefonnen Primary, Wales Jen goes above and beyond for her school and local community with ‘Food & Fun’ clubs in the holidays, a community fridge and more, to make sure children are fed and fuelled! 🏆 School Leader Food Hero, Miss Hackett, New Lubbesthrope Primary, School, Leicestershire Beekeeping, chicken keeping, growing and cooking their own food - Miss Hackett has made food the core of the school. She understands how important food is to children’s education, in particular ensuring they know where it comes from. 🏆 Youth Activist of the Year, Madie Toplass, Thistley Hough Academy, Stoke-On-Trent From starting her own business to raise monthly for local charities, to donating to the schools Food Department, Madie goes the extra mile (s!) to connect and contribute to her local community.
