Partnering for Positive Impact in Our Local Community - KES Impact Report 2024 Our community partnerships benefit the local community and teach our pupils to use their skills for good. KES has strong connections with various local community organisations, including Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, Bath Philharmonia, Bath Cricket Club and The Holburne Museum. We also support Hannah Dawes, our Head of Learning for Life, to team up with Drug Science and create vital resources for teachers across the UK. Volunteering is a way of nurturing our pupils’ sense of responsibility for others, as pupils across the School volunteer their time to a range of organisations including Bridgemead Care Home, Bathampton Primary School and Widcombe infant School. One of last year’s partnership highlights saw KES Music staff and pupils working with Bath Philharmonia to host a three-day percussion workshop with 80 pupils from St Martin’s Garden Primary School, including pupils from the Margaret Coates Centre who have an autism diagnosis. From nursery through senior school, students enjoy weekly library time, where they can independently choose books they love. 📖 To ensure wide appeal, the school library offers diverse formats—from manga to magazines—and partners with departments to introduce engaging reading activities, like biology-themed book reviews and reading adventures on outdoor trips. Sarah encourages all school staff to think about how you can make your Library a hub within your school. She highlights they often hold events in the Library that aren’t necessarily just about reading, such as chess tournaments, quizzes, debates, drama workshops and games, all of which encourage people to visit. Today our Headmaster Leo Winkley is on the expert panel at the 4th annual National Education Summit of the The Foundation for Education Development (FED) in Manchester. The FED is dedicated to the belief that long-term strategic education planning is vital and provides a space for stakeholders to help shape the future of education. It provides a space to facilitate collaboration amongst educational institutions from across the globe. Today’s conference sees 450 attendees working together to contribute their voices to support a more creative and inclusive learning environment for the UK.
