October is Black History Month, and this year’s theme 'Reclaiming Narratives’ is a powerful reminder of the importance of correcting historical inaccuracies, uplifting untold success stories, and embracing the full richness of Black history and culture. We asked some of our colleagues to share their own personal narratives: Why is it important to celebrate Black History Month? What does it mean to them, and why is it crucial for HCA UK to recognise Black history? Stay tuned throughout October for in-depth interviews and personal stories shared by three of our colleagues featured in the film. #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #HCAUK #HCAHealthcareUK #DiversityAndInclusion #BlackVoices

🎥Watch Now: Knowing the Signs and Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer with Dr. Ahmad Sayasneh🎥 Everyday in the UK, 21 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Two thirds of these women, an estimated 5,000, are diagnosed late, when their cancer is harder to treat. Late diagnosis is largely due to both a low awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms and that these symptoms are often vague. To mark the end of #Gynaecological CancerAwarenessMonth, we asked Dr. Ahmad Sayasneh, Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon at HCA Healthcare UK, to tell us about the common signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer to look out for. The message is clear; if you have any new, unusual, or persistent symptoms, then these need to be investigated without delay. It may not be anything to worry about, but finding ovarian cancer earlier makes it easier to treat. #HCAhealthcareUK #HCAhealthcare #ovariancancer #ovariancancerawareness

Today we’ve joined people across the UK to host Macmillan coffee mornings across our network. We popped in to see the team at our flagship patient information centre The Harley Street Clinic. The dedicated centre is a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, where our team work together to talk, listen and provide information and support to patients and their loved ones, helping them to navigate the practical, physical and emotional impact of cancer. Macmillan volunteer, Carol MacDonald; "I've been a Macmillan volunteer for 22 years. We listen to patients and help guide them. We fill in the gaps and help give them the confidence they need to navigate a challenging chapter in their lives. It’s an incredible honour and a big responsibility." Patient, Susan; "I started my treatments about 10 months ago. I’ve had reflexology treatments at the centre, which I find so relaxing – they really brighten my day. I also feel very supported by the Macmillan volunteers; they’re so easy to talk to, it’s like chatting with a friend, I feel like I can confide in them.” We’re incredibly proud to partner with Macmillan and to participate in this national coffee morning, helping to raise funds for the vital support they provide to people living with cancer. A huge thank you to our team for their continued dedication and to all our bakers for their delicious cakes. #MacmillanCoffeeMorning #HCAHealthcareUK #HCAUK #CancerSupport
