Our latest research reveals that more young drivers are switching from cars to vans. The findings show that nearly one in four drivers aged 25-34 are considering a van for their next vehicle. According to the survey over a third of van owners use their vehicles for general driving and leisure, not just for work. The reasons given for choosing a van include - more space (cited by 71%), versatility for both work and family use (54%), ability to carry more people (49%) and adaptability of interior space (41%). All of these give owners the freedom to hit the road for work and leisure! Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eWCtM78p
About us
Our vision is to give customers a genuine option to easily buy green motor insurance. At The Green Insurer, we aim to become the UK’s leading green insurance provider initially by helping drivers understand how to drive in a green way, and to incentivise and encourage them to drive in the most fuel-efficient way. Miles driven on cars insured by The Green Insurer will be offset using a range of carbon offset projects. All these projects are assessed not only for their carbon and environmental effectiveness, but also for their social impact on the people and communities where the projects take place. Our innovative App enables our insured customers to track their journeys, monitor their driving habits and view their Green Driving Score. Within the App and the customer portal, our customers can see their reward Leaves grow and can exchange Leaves for eGift vouchers to spend with well-known brands. We will strive to tread as lightly as we can on the earth and will always seek ways to improve our environmental impact as a business. We treat our people as individuals who have important priorities outside work, will reward them well, and share our success with the whole team. Our people are chosen because they align with our values and mission. Our team are 100% homebased to avoid the carbon cost of running an office and the emissions created by commuting. All our people are responsible for helping us improve our environmental credentials and to come up with ideas to make our business better for our people and for the environment. Our mission is to help reduce your impact on the environment.

Potholes and poorly maintained roads are costing drivers. According to our recent research more than one in four drivers have had their vehicles damaged by bad road conditions. Burst tyres are the biggest issue, with 60% of those affected needing tyre repairs. Suspension damage isn't far behind, affecting 40%. Furthermore, the costs aren’t insignificant! One in five motorists say they have faced repair bills over £500! Yet, most drivers (71%) are paying out of pocket, with only 12% claim on insurance. Eight per cent did say they successfully applied for compensation from their local council for the damage. However around 4% admit the damage has never been repaired. Potholes and poorly maintained roads are a major risk for drivers, not only from the damage done to cars by driving into potholes, but also from their potential to cause accidents. For this reason, we would encourage everyone to report potholes they encounter on their travels via local council websites or the relevant national government website (GOV.UK, mygov.scot or nidirect). Our new research reveals four in five (78%) adults are taking steps to cut their carbon footprints as awareness of climate change and its impact on the environment rises. The most common measures being taken include recycling and choosing reusable products to minimise waste (61%) and reducing their meat and dairy consumption (24%). Car use is also being targeted with 35% saying they are using public transport instead of the car for short trips and almost one in 10 (9%) switching from a petrol or diesel car to an electric or hybrid vehicle. Around the home, people are looking to make their house more energy efficient. The most common action taken is to have double glazed windows (78%), use electricity-efficient lighting such as LED bulbs (70%), and have their loft insulated (62%). Less common measures such as solar panels and heat pumps seem to be growing in popularity, with 14% and 4% of respondents saying they have them within their home. Our new research on the state of the UK's roads found that 78% of people believe the roads in their local area have got worse in the past two years. Around 55% say the roads within five miles of their home have deteriorated considerably. It is an even bleaker picture when it comes to the state of UK roads in general. Around 58% of respondents believe UK roads in general have deteriorated considerably in the past two years while another 23% say roads have become a bit worse. People are complaining about the state of roads in their local area – 26% of those questioned say they have reported potholes to their local council, with motorcyclists being the most proactive (54%), followed by cyclists (41%), and motorists (28%). Potholes and poorly maintained roads are a major risk for drivers, not only from the damage done to cars by driving into potholes, but also from their potential to cause accidents. For this reason, we would encourage everyone to report potholes they encounter on their travels via local council websites or the relevant national government website (GOV.UK, mygov.scot or nidirect.gov.uk). Our new research reveals that keyless technology in cars, while convenient, is perceived by some drivers to make their vehicles more vulnerable to theft. Seven out of 10 motorists believe this technology has potentially opened the door to crimes like key cloning! One in three (34%) say they believe that keyless cars are “much more vulnerable” to theft and 80% think car manufacturers need to boost security. This is underlined by the 13% who say they have avoided buying certain models due to concerns around them being stolen. Last week we announced an exciting new partnership with Effective Home, a leading provider of solar panel products and battery solutions. This collaboration offers a significant benefit to The Green Insurer’s car insurance policyholders, allowing them to earn £200 in reward points when they purchase solar panels from Effective Home through The Green Insurer’s website. Recent research that we conducted highlights that 17% of Brits are planning to install solar panels to reduce their carbon emissions. Installing solar panels is not only an eco-friendly choice but also a financially smart one. Households that generate their own solar energy can save between £520 and £630 annually on their electricity bills, with potential further savings through battery storage solutions. Our recent FOI, answered by 50 councils across the UK, shows 6,243 motorists received compensation for damage to their car caused by potholes or poor road conditions – an 82% rise on the previous year and more than double the 3,043 payouts in 2019. Total compensation paid by councils responding to the FOI last year was £1.075 million. The responses reveal that some 300,000 potholes were reported and around £52.45 million was spent by local authorities on repairs. The situation has become so desperate for some UK motorists that other research we conducted reveals that one in 20 adults admit to having tried to fill in a pothole themselves.
