Senior Project Manager - BrainWaves (University of Oxford & The Day)/ Operations Director at The Day

Great write up in the FT today about BrainWaves the project we have been working on for the last two years. Incredible to see the results from the study coming in but even more than that, it’s hearing the feedback from students and teachers using our free educational resources. This is an ‘all in one’ - research and action! I am personally cheering on everyone young person navigating adolescence today and glad I can play a small part in making a difference.

We all know oracy skills are critical for students’ future success.  The recent findings from the Oracy Education Commission calls for oracy to be treated as equally as literacy and numeracy to narrow the achievement gap.  This change will take time, but your students can’t wait. The Day offers an immediate, practical solution for integrating oracy into your school curriculum right now. Through our debates, you can start weaving the 'golden thread' of oracy across all subjects. Empower every student to develop their communication skills, no matter their background or ability, to find their voice. Try The Day and see for yourself: https://lnkd.in/e45CVar5 #OracyEducationCommission #Oracy #SpeakingSkills #Education

Partnerships & Audience Director at The Day | Helping businesses engage and inspire young people via real world learning

Stories of teenagers with mental health problems are on the rise. Wouldn’t it be great to understand the impact of certain behaviours, such as time spent on social media, on their mental health? On World Mental Health Day, I’m sure this is on the minds of many parents, teachers, home schoolers and young people. BrainWaves has undertaken one of the most in-depth pieces of research on teen mental health and I’m excited to share our upcoming webinar where the results will be discussed! "Trends in Adolescent Mental Health: Initial Findings from the BrainWaves Cohort Pilot Study” https://lnkd.in/en8jctbE When: Wednesday, October 16th, 4-5 PM Who: Professors John Gallacher and Sarah Bauermeister, Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford BrainWaves has undertaken research with 7,000 young people aged 16-18 to learn about the correlation of adolescent behaviours and mental health. Through our long-term partnership with the University of Oxford, The Day has been working closely with schools on the BrainWaves mental health initiative to empower students to become more self aware and make positive changes to their own mental health. This includes the creation of highly regarded science-backed lesson resources, blogs and our webinar series to support schools with their strategies for addressing student mental health. Schools that have taken part in the research study are now being given individual reports that detail the mental health of their students against school averages, along with analysis on the behaviours of their students.
