6 ways quality principles can help mental health in the work place... According to the National Health Service there are seven areas that cause stress in the workplace. Quality principles and philosophy can help with many of these. (I have combined 6 and 7). A lack of control - giving colleagues ownership of their work through tools to solve problems and improve. A lack of clarity about responsibilities- having a clear system of work which defines how processes and people align and collaborate. A fear of change - employing good change management practice as part of innovation and improvement activity. Poor line management - equipping line managers with the process and system ethos which drives out fear and improves how work is done. Difficult relationships with colleagues - a complex psychological issue, but a help will be to base discussion on data and fact, not opinion, and value for the customer and process. Bullying and Discrimination - align corporate values to policy and employ proactive assurance methods to understand and respond to what is really happening. I am sure members of CQI | The Chartered Quality Institute and IRCA | International Register of Certificated Auditors will have more to say... https://lnkd.in/eu9umZWG #WorldMentalHealthDay

#WorldMentalHealthDay "Do you get up in the morning and think 'I am going to have a good day today?'" Caitlin McArthur, Zero Harm Mindset Delivery and Deployment Manager at Sodexo shares ways to improve health and safety outcomes for the benefit of employees. "Being safe at work is an important part of how valued an employee feels. It also impacts on all the people around them, at work and at home. If every day when you or your loved ones go off to work you are both concerned for each others' safety, that makes for a very stressful life." Last night I attended the “Guts and Grace” webinar, hosted by the CQI | The Chartered Quality Institute Derby and Nottingham branch as part of the CQI quality careers week to develop my understanding of working in quality from a females perspective. It was an insightful panel discussion covering the ladies’ journey into quality and their experiences throughout their careers. I was particularly inspired by their openness to talk about what they would do differently if they could start again, some of the lessons learned they shared and the rather amusing (in hindsight) “mistakes”. Many thanks to the panel: Victoria Tait, CQP MCQI Suzanne Hill CQP FCQI Amber Jowers PCQI Victoria Derbyshire CQP MCQI Sarah Gould (CQP MCQI) Prof. Amanda McKay BSc (Hons) MBA CQP FCQI Angela Fumpson
