In this vlog #4 I take you through my entire day at a Technology for Marketing and eCommerce Expo exhibition in #London! After attending the Big Data LDN, I’m back to explore the latest trends in #MarTech, get some exhibit inspiration, and catch up with companies I know and work with. I reconnect with Anicca Digital to talk about their impressive data-driven approach and have a great conversation with the team at Zowie about their AI-powered customer experience tools. Later in the day, I find a wall of industry challenges that range from relatable to laugh-out-loud funny. Join me as I wrap up the day with my journey back to #Coventry, excited to reunite with my family. If you’re into #ecommerce, #marketing, or just want to see what goes on behind the scenes at these events, this vlog is for you!

Who doesn't love a nifty little tech integration? Especially one that manages to surprise and delight you - AND it does so in such an elegant way. 🙌 I recently attended the Technology for Marketing expo where I listened in to a brilliant panel discussion around: "How to leverage your data better in 2024". The discussion was exceptionally high quality and included these marketing rock stars: 🎤 Emma Attwood, Senior Growth Manager - Gousto 🎤 Nicola Smedley, Director Marketing and Supporter Engagement - Cancer Research UK (CRUK) 🎤 Shane ORourke, Head of Performance Marketing - Diageo 🧠 All brilliantly moderated by Rachel Aldighieri, Managing Director - DMA Of course with a panel like that the conversation was sparklingly good. But that's not where the story ends. In my inbox this morning, was this lovely, personalised certificate of attendance from CPDme - CPD Portfolio Builder for Professionals! And truly - it was one of those "but how did they do that!" ***delight*** moments 😯 😀 ❤️ . Which was when I realised - all it took was a quick accreditation badge scan on the day and then the tech worked all its clever magic in the background! A lovely surprise and delight moment - and the best part? I didn't have to do anything more than I was already planning to do. Thanks for making it so easy Technology for Marketing and CPDme - CPD Portfolio Builder for Professionals 🙌

Resilience in the Face of Adversity – Lessons from Natalie Campbell MBE I recently had the privilege at the Technology for Marketing Expo of interviewing Natalie Campbell MBE, co-CEO of Belu Water and an independent candidate for the Mayor of London election this year. Her story is a masterclass in resilience, facing setbacks and turning them into success. At just 15, Natalie knew she wanted to be a CEO. After university, she took the entrepreneurial leap and bought a franchise—but when the parent company went under, she was left with debt and had to work multiple jobs to rebuild. But that didn’t stop her. Over the years, Natalie became the co-CEO of Belu Water, built several successful companies, she has advised governments, global consultancy firms, and even royalty. She’s proven that the toughest setbacks can set the stage for the most extraordinary successes. Yet one of her toughest battles came this year when she ran as an independent candidate for Mayor of London. With no major party backing and £25,000 of her own money funding the campaign, she fought a battle against candidates with hundreds of thousands in their war chests. She was often not given the platforms she deserved and faced criticism on social media (but much more love I should add). Day after day, she put in long hours, relentlessly pushing forward. There were moments when rest seemed impossible, but she kept going. The result? She secured the most votes of any independent candidate, 47,815 votes, a third of the votes that the Liberal Democrats, with a much larger budget, received. Her journey as a candidate was exhausting and mentally taxing, but it taught her one thing: resilience is built in the toughest times. If you’re struggling right now, it might not feel like it, but you are building something invaluable. Every long night, every setback, and every bit of doubt is shaping you into someone who can handle anything. Here’s what I’ve learned from Natalie’s story: • Resilience comes from refusing to give up, no matter how overwhelming the odds. • Strength is built when you push through criticism and keep moving forward. • Problem-solving turns setbacks into stepping stones for success. But perhaps the most important lesson is this: In struggle, we find our power. Natalie’s story proves that even when you feel the world is against you, persistence pays off. So, if you’re in the thick of it right now, remember—you’re not just enduring hardship; you’re developing resilience, and this time could be the foundation of your future success. #Leadership #Resilience #NatalieCampbellMBE #Entrepreneurship #tfm

Our entire team was standing for 7 hours straight—across both days! And we loved every second of it! Exhibiting at the Technology for Marketing event at ExCeL London was truly a remarkable experience. One of the most anticipated events on our calendar, and it didn’t disappoint. From preparing marketing materials to assembling the booth ourselves—months of meticulous planning paid off. Visitors kept us on our toes with non-stop conversations!😊 Most importantly, after speaking with dozens of CXOs and marketing professionals, we’ve gained valuable insights into industry trends and customer needs. I won number 4 in the top 100 marketing influencers (What the actual heck?! 🤣 ) There's this list of the Top 100 Marketing Influencers, and an award show every year at the gigantic Technology for Marketing event in London. This year it was hosted by influencer megastar Sophie Miller (of Pretty Little Marketer fame, with 500k followers across platforms) and influencer marketing expert, Gordon Glenister. It's not just about follower numbers as of course, they can be gamed, it's about engagement levels and quality of content, too. So, I sidled up to the awards ceremony, tucking myself into a comfy corner at the back. Numbers 100-20 were read out. Tons of names and faces of cracking content creators. It's so lovely to see these people "in real". Numbers 19-11 came and went. Still no mention. (What?) My heart started pounding. (Actually, it more than pounded, I got a bit worried I was going to have a horrendously timed anxiety attack, truth be told, but it settled a bit) Number 10...9...8...7...6...(No f*cking way...) 5... (Bear in mind, these top 10 are people like Rory Sutherland, Matt Navarra - well-established and very successful people) 4... Heather Murray. (SERIOUSLY?!!) I couldn't believe it. Aren't influencers meant to be young and pretty? Or filthy rich, leaning against a Ferrari with a cocktail? Or super cool (and thus would never use the phrase "super cool)? Or big shots from big brands? I'm just a normal Brummy woman, trying to make a living, tapping away in my little home office, and there I was at number 4. I was so happy, I actually went a bit cross-eyed: see photo exhibit A. Anyway, It meant a lot. A LOT. So I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you lovely people for reading my content and supporting it every week. And not just that - so many people send such kind messages, or say such kind things in person too. I've even had total strangers offer real support during tough times. ❤️ LinkedIn can actually be a very lovely place to be. Any other Top 100ers in my network? PS Claire Ferreira big fan of your speaking style, was so good to see you in there too - and meet you very briefly. PPS The winner was the brilliant Rob Mayhew, that guy in the epic jumpers that does really funny videos.
