Tenzo - Restaurant PerformanceOps reposted this
Start of the new month means industry numbers time! After a lacklustre September, October has been a lot more successful! According to our research, looking at several hundred sites in London and the South-East, like-for-like sales have increased 5.2% year-over-year, with most of this growth driven by a 3.97% increase in ATV. Given this week's budget, it's nice to have a bit of good industry news to share. This, coupled with the now cancelled tube strikes, might help Q4 to be the best quarter of the year.

Alerts of the week continue .... Next up is the cost of labour as a %. A key lever that general managers use to control costs is to optimise their labour - particularly following the recent budget. Our 'Cost of Labour % higher than X' Alert can be set for a period of your choosing. It is thus designed for operators to zoom in on their daily labour costs while simultaneously being able to zoom out and identify trends over a longer time period. Is your labour cost too high? Do you need help changing your labour schedules to reflect sales? Drop us a message if you are interested in controlling your labour costs!

Integrations are a hot topic in the hospitality tech sphere, but what's often overlooked is the tech behind the integrations that makes it all happen - APIs. We've just published a comprehensive blog on APIs: why should restaurateurs care about them? A breakdown on the ins and outs of APIs, and what you should be looking out for in your tech! We’re super excited to welcome Jerry Lo on board as a Senior Data Engineer! We asked Jerry about his new role: 🤩 What are you most excited about at Tenzo? Tenzo handles vast amounts of data from a wide variety of sources. As a data enthusiast, I’m thrilled to have the chance to build innovative data solutions here, helping restaurants grow and thrive. The opportunity to work with such diverse data sets is incredibly exciting. Plus, being part of a team that’s dedicated to transforming the restaurant industry is truly inspiring. 🧑💻 What's your background in? I have 7 years of experience working with data across various industries, including retail, gaming, and hospitality. My expertise covers data analysis, visualisation, and modelling. In my recent roles, I’ve specialised in data engineering, where ensuring the reliability of data pipelines and maintaining high data quality have been my primary responsibilities. This diverse background has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of how to leverage data to drive business success. 🍳 What's your favourite restaurant? One of my favourite spots is the Australia Dairy Company in Hong Kong. This place is a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng, famous for its steamed milk pudding and creamy scrambled eggs. As a Hongkonger, I still miss the authentic flavours and the lively vibe of this iconic eatery.
