Owner | Director | Senior Consultant - Taurus Procurement Consultancy Available for Consultancy, Outsourcing & Projects Outside / Inside IR35

Procurement Consultant available for projects: Inside & Outside IR35, through my Ltd company or umbrella. I'm Nick Sheldrake and following over 20 years of working for some of the world leaders in their respective fields, I set up my independent Procurement Consultancy business. Was I crazy in doing so? Absolutely not. My belief is that there are businesses out there who either do not have an efficient, well resourced or experience Procurement Team; or, the business does not understand the true value that Procurement can bring - e.g. we're not just in it to squeeze the last penny out of suppliers, we're here to ensure the quality of supply and the longevity of a successful, healthy supplier relationship too! If you know a SME business that could use some guidance in how to 'do' Procurement right, or in need of some experienced hands to support projects, then please share within your networks. In fact, please share within your networks anyway! Thanks for reading #procurement #consultant #purchasing #supplychain #procurementconsultant #SME #smebusiness #IR35 #outsource #indirectprocurement #directprocurement #externalmanufacturing #CIPS #notjustashopper

Today I sent out my first 'Campaign' via MailChimp, reaching out to prospective clients. It didn't go well.... ten minutes after launch, I got an email stating that my campaign contained inappropriate content (and they don't judge whatever my profession is!). I challenged the suspension of the campaign and now I've had a message to tell me to use an alternative Marketing platform because of my content. Now I've never been one to think of Procurement as being sexy, but maybe my offering of consultancy support was too much for the bots? Any suggestions of a better option than MailChimp? One that won't blacklist me for talking about an offer of subcontract support? This guy's not a Chimp but at least he seemed happier to be acquainted at the zoo today

TL|DR - You may think you have negotiation covered in your skillset but we can help you achieve more. #Negotiation - We've all done it at some points in our lives, if it's trying to get a better deal or getting your kids to eat their veggies; but, what makes for a good negotiation? in fact, what is a good negotiation and who decides it? The answer is, every negotiation is unique and so there is no determination to say what is good or bad. This however, only applies to the result; there is definitely a difference between a well planned negotiation and one that's been stumbled into. Did you know that leaders in negotiation training suggest that there should be around 9 hours preparation for the average negotiation? Sounds a lot? It is a lot, particularly when you're spinning plates and have conflicting priorities. But, should that mean that you cut back on your planning? Absolutely not. By cutting back, you are going to enter your negotiation unprepared; unprepared to the current market, category or business developments and unprepared to know what you can do to leverage your position whilst your are face to face with your opponent. By this point, it's too late. This lack of planning and preparation costs businesses thousands (in some cases millions) every year, and creates the impression that you are weak and unable to defend the price increases and whatever else is thrown at you. This is a problem that particularly effects #SME businesses, as they cannot afford to have the experience and expertise on their teams, invest tens of thousands to train their teams, or simply have the time due to buyers wearing many hats day to day. However, we have worked in some 'world class' #Procurement teams and the problems SME's face are not unique, with priority conflict or time constraints being a factor in poorly planned negotiations - the training has been done but the training doesn't create time in your diary! So how can we help? We do, what you do not have the expertise or time to do. We are specialists in negotiation and can devise a strategy unique to your situation; we can provide the insight, do the leg work of the research, work with you and your colleagues and, we can even be sat side-by-side with you or even lead the negotiation for you. With our support, you won't be leaving value on the table or realising that you missed an opportunity when it's too late. Take a look at www.taurusprocurement.com and get in contact with us for a conversation about what we can do to help you achieve more.
