We are delighted to today announce a strategic partnership, known as The Natural Sweetener Alliance, with Manus to expand access to natural sugar reduction solutions. On the 24 October we launched ALFIE, the Automated Laboratory for Ingredient Experimentation! On the day attendees sampled a number of delicious prototypes using our range of ingredients. Baked Mochi Pops – Unique, crispy, light, chewy bakery bites with delicious filling using our MIRA-THIK® Starch and REZIST® Starch ingredients. "Reducing sugar is not just a trend, it’s a necessity for the future of food.” This was a key takeaway for Sophia Pai, our Vice President of Application and Technical Services, when she joined a panel discussion at the Advancing Sugar Reduction & Reformulation Summit this week in Atlanta, US. Our Principal Scientist, Melissa Kaczmarczyk, was also there and led a talk on assessing the impact of sweeteners and prebiotic fibers on the gut microbiome. The Summit was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry leaders, innovators, and experts - all coming together with a shared vision of creating healthier food and beverage products. It is clear that as consumers demand healthier, better-for-you options, the need for reformulation solutions has never been more urgent. Since 2021 we have been working with local women stevia farmers in China, helping them to reduce their environmental impact, boost their productivity and their livelihoods. This ‘farmer first’ approach connects farmers, suppliers and customers with consumers, and benefits not only the women smallholders but also the wider regional economy. This World Mental Health Day we want to highlight what we as a business are doing to support those who work in our business, whether they be our employees or contractors. Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offers access to health and wellbeing tools and support to each employee and members of their household. This service is free to our people and available 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have trained 100 mental health first aiders across our sites globally. This year our network grew again, with our first volunteers in our Middle East and Africa region. We organise discussions on broader mental health related challenges. For example, in the US, its popular Wellbeing Wednesdays sessions have covered a range of topics, such as financial wellbeing and emotional strength. Our aim is to ensure that everyone in our business: 🫶can proactively invest in their own mental health 🦾is equipped to empathise with and support colleagues 🤝is supported when they face challenges with their mental health. Health and wellbeing are part of our purpose targets, and we track how we’re doing through our annual employee survey.
