"Collaboration begins with a conversation in a room, not separate rooms focusing only on cost-saving. We need to make sure the salesperson has the engineer in the room, that the engineers talk to the clients in the room, that the producers talk to the suppliers, and so on. As soon as you isolate the conversations then you can lose the reasons for the change or the needs of the market for their content." Writing for SVG Europe, Brian Clark, the managing director of Maverick Media Services, discusses our collective sports broadcasting challenges and why collaboration and respect are key to success. https://lnkd.in/evUjXv8c

Time is running out to register for Sport Production Summit 2024, taking place at De Hallen Studio’s in Central Amsterdam on Thursday 12 September. Registration closes at 12.00 on Wednesday 4 September. The full-day event, sponsored by Panasonic Connect (Panasonic Broadcast & ProAV Europe), features a packed schedule of panel debates and discussions as well as ample time for networking. The Paris Olympics will feature heavily throughout the day, including in the first session of the day which will see SVG Europe Chair of the Advisory Board Alessandro Reitano in conversation with SVG Executive Director, Editorial Ken Kerschbaumer. They will discuss the key production and technology trends that have shaped European sports broadcasting in 2024 and look forward to what this means for next year and beyond. In his Keynote, Scott Young, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, Group Senior Vice President, Content, Production and Business Operations, will share how the broadcaster created Games content for 47 markets in 19 languages, and discuss the technical and operational challenges of working across multiple sites throughout Europe. This is followed by Monique Hamer, NOS, Executive Producer, Sports Department, and Sally Richardson, BBC Sport, Lead Director, Olympic Games Paris 2024, exploring how both broadcasters covered the Olympics before outlining the challenges faced and overcome, and the lessons learnt. Romuald RAT, France Télévisions, Managing Director TechLab & AI, and Yoni Tayar, TVU Networks, VP of Marketing, will then share how France Télévisions achieved unprecedented success during the Paris Games, captivating 99% of the French population over 15 years old. After lunch, the focus shifts to one of the other major sporting events of the summer – Euro 2024. John Murphy, BBC Sport, Design Director; Chris Izatt, AE Live, Director of Innovation & Virtual; and Olaf Sperwer, ROE Visual, Business Development Manager for Virtual Production, will take us behind the scenes of BBC Sport's LED-based mixed reality presentation studio setup for Euro 2024. Chair Johannes Franken, HBS, Director of Digital, will then be joined by Benjamin Stoll, FIS (International Ski and Snowboard Federation), Director of Digital and Innovation; Nima Malekmanesh, Evertz, Director - Business Development, Live Media Solutions; Olivier Barnich, EVS, Head of Innovation & Architecture; and Ian Fletcher, Grass Valley, Chief Technology Officer, to delve into the transformative impact that AI is having (and will continue to have) on sports broadcasting. In addition, Rebecca Jackson from Caretta Research will offer up a data-driven insight into sports broadcasting technology trends. The day will end with the presentation of the Outstanding Contribution to European Sports Broadcasting, which this year goes to BBC Sport’s Sally Richardson.
