This year’s theme of World Mental Health Day, organised by the World Health Organisation, highlights the importance of addressing mental health and well-being in the workplace. We know that talking is good for your mental health so today we hosted Tea & Talk sessions across all our sites, providing a supportive space for open discussions on mental health and well-being. Big things are happening in our sector to help protect #biodiversity! 🌍 A fascinating project by Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I uses AI to monitor bird species to assess the biodiversity on blackcurrant #farms.   The project – in partnership with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) South West – reveals the presence of a range of threatened bird species across hedgerows, woodland and grasslands.   This data is invaluable for Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I’s growers as they work to refine their agricultural methods to increase bird populations.   The project is part of the company’s strong commitment to enhancing biodiversity and supporting its growers in their climate action efforts.    🔎 Find out more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/etwgQNCW    SUNTORY BEVERAGE & FOOD EUROPE

👏Makiko Ono, CEO of Suntory Beverage & Food (SBF), has been named one of Fortune Most Powerful Women (MPW) 2024👏 MPW 2024 has selected the 100 most powerful women in the world from six continents, 19 countries and territories, and 14 different industries. These 100 executives possess significant influence in the business environment and embody the qualities and capabilities of leaders. Three Japanese were named this year, and one of them was Makiko! In 2024, SBF faced a challenging environment of higher raw material prices and a weak yen, but under Makiko's outstanding leadership, SBF achieved a 9% increase in revenue and a 20% increase in operating income in the first half of 2024, to $5.7 billion and $412 million. Last Friday at Diversity & Inclusion in Grocery was one of those very special days where we had the chance to connect, learn and inspire one another to drive positive change across the grocery industry. We were reminded that we all have a part to play in accelerating progress and I wanted to share just some of my personal reflections on the day: ⭐ We shouldn’t feel uncomfortable collecting diversity data – what doesn’t get measured doesn’t get acted upon ⭐ Assessing DE&I fluency is important so that everyone feels comfortable and confident talking about it. Rain couldn’t stop our Coleford Projects team from making the most of their Volunteer Day! 💪 The team spent their day at Blakeney Hill Growers, helping maintain this vibrant smallholding in the Forest of Dean. Tasks included clearing paddocks, flattening bracken, and repairing fences to support the community initiative. Along with giving back to the community, it was a great day for team bonding, which came to an end with well-deserved tea, cake, and even some homemade goat’s cheese! This is what our Together for Good volunteering programme is all about: teamwork, resilience, and making a positive impact in the community, rain or shine! 🌱 #TogetherForGood #GivingBacktoSociety

Steering towards our sustainability goals 🚗 This year we launched our new electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, helping our employees who commute by car to consider a more sustainable option. This scheme also supports our target to reduce our Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, a critical part of our Growing for Good sustainability strategy.
