We rode home for Christmas and it was epic. Our third instalment with Nordman (a Christmas Tree) saw us ride a tandem over 500km for 5 days across the country. From Lands End to London, passing through Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and London.
We knew it was going to be a shift, having only spent 25 mins on the tandem previously but that was largely by design. Learn as we go and enjoy the adventure.
The support went up a notch, random acts of kindness en route blew us away. Complete strangers finding us en route to support us in various ways. We were welcomed into homes, fed and watered, we had out riders, mechanics, carol singers, the list goes on. Thank you.
The bike added so many logistics and challenges but we were brought home by unrelenting support, laughs and bad singing from Lois Jackson Rosie King. They are the heroes of this, we would still be in deepest Cornwall without them.
Visiting Horatio's Garden really drove home the journey Ed Jackson and Lois Jackson have been on but also validated the incredible work Millimetres 2 Mountains do and how many people it will help in the future from the funds raised.
Ed Jackson and I have now been far and wide, often in the 'bin' as we refer to it as, but the most awe inspiring thing is his attitude to his injuries. The adversities he has overcome to inspire others, infectious positivity and out right stupidity shines through. I will strangely miss hurtling down a hill, on a tandem, at 60kmph in the pitch black, sitting on his hands. But he's truly something else. Let’s keep on, keeping on. What's next?
Thank you so much to Endura Beavertown Brewery Dawsongroup and tvg hospitality for your support.
So a huge thank you to everyone who got involved, we’ve raised the most yet and I know how effective that will mean Millimetres 2 Mountains can help those that need it most. There is still time to donate or get involved in the charity. Please do reach out.
Time to eat and sleep. Merry Christmas
