About us

Street League is one of the most exciting, dynamic and fastest-growing charities in the UK. We specialise in changing the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through the power of sport. The charity works with 16 to 24-year-olds who are not in employment, education and training and supports them into sustainable careers. Our key point of difference is that we teach life and work skills using the power of sport. Our vision is to help bring an end to structural youth unemployment in the UK. With almost one million young people out of work, youth unemployment is the single biggest threat to the future prosperity of our country. Street League engages with these young people in a structured sport and fitness and education 'Academy' programme. Street League is proud to be one of the charities supported by the unique Our Future Now fund, delivered by Inspiring Scotland. Thanks to Our Future Now, we are levelling the playing field for young people living in disadvantaged communities across Scotland, empowering them with the skills, qualifications and confidence they need to move into sustainable work, education and training.     Our CEO, Dougie Stevenson, was delighted to speak with The First Minister and Minister for Higher and Further Education earlier this week as they launched the mid-point impact report for Our Future Now. Thanks to the support of The Scottish Government alongside private partners, Our Future Now has changed the lives of almost 25,000 young Scots over the last five years – and we won’t stop until every young person has a brighter future.

The First Minister and Minister for Higher and Further Education joined us to launch the mid-point impact report of our 10-year youth employment fund – Our Future Now. We’re focused on supporting the bedrock of circa 40,000 young people in Scotland that struggle to succeed post school and are unfairly disadvantaged by their circumstances. ❤️ We invest in 12 amazing charities who get alongside young people in their communities, create opportunities and make positive change. 👉 So far 25,000 young people aged 14 - 25 have been supported with over 62% successfully securing an employability outcome of work, education, training or volunteering. 🤝 We know the challenges facing young people are not insignificant. Through Our Future Now, we have a model that is working to improve the life chances of young people who need it now more than ever. We’re committed to the next 5 years.    Read more here - https://shorturl.at/IkWMH

Head of Talent & Regional Development at Movement to Work (Seconded from Tesco)

Yesterday myself and Lauren O'Neill spent some time in Edinburgh with Street League who are one of our incredible new Partners! Street League, in its simplest terms, help young people into the world of work using sport and education. I got to see first hand how this concept works and how by incorporating sport, barriers could be broken down in a really organic way and trusting relationships could be formed. Thank you Julie Chalmers and Adam Brown for inviting us along to meet the team and cohort of young people. I was absolutely blown away by the Street League team and the impact they have on young people. We at Movement to Work are really excited about this new partnership and the opportunities we can collectively open up for young people in the future. #youngpeoplework

We’re reliving this year’s CVC Challenge Victory Cup!   On Friday 7th June, more than 250 people participated in the 12th CVC Challenge Victory Cup 5-a-side football tournament. It is a testament to the hugely loyal support of CVC relationship firms and portfolio companies, and the commitment of the CVC team that so many of the companies taking part attend year after year. The result being that, since 2012, this annual tournament has raised over £2million for Street League’s work - and has inspired others to do the same!   Thanks to CVC, hundreds of young people continue to access Street League’s sport and employability programmes, gain qualifications, and have access to at least six months of ‘in work’ aftercare support.    We are enormously grateful to CVC for their ongoing support and commitment.    🎥 - Sam McIntyre

Accounting & Finance at The University of Glasgow

I recently had the pleasure of volunteering with abrdn during my internship, thanks to the kind suggestion of Catherine W.. One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my time at abrdn was to seize every opportunity that comes my way, so I eagerly accepted the chance to get involved. I volunteered with Street League at Valley Park Community Hall in Edinburgh, where I gained a deeper understanding of how Street League gives a pathway to kids who struggle in school to enter college and achieve their career goals, by using the powerful incentive of sports. Key Takeaways: - During the session, we focused on how to structure CVs and identify the essential elements to build up a CV. The teaching environment was much more relaxed compared to a typical classroom. By including games into the learning process, the experience became both enjoyable and effective, significantly increasing the kids' engagement. - I also had the opportunity to network with colleagues like Holly ODonnell and Claire Dowle. I thoroughly enjoyed discussing their perspectives on the program, learning about them and their roles at abrdn, and receiving valuable advice for my future. - In addition, we discussed the importance of employees taking advantage of volunteering opportunities and how sharing knowledge and experience can make a difference. I realised that while I was helping others, this experience also helped me grow, particularly in building my confidence in public speaking and knowledge sharing. We ended the day with a fun game of 3v3 indoor football, which was a blast - even if it meant I returned to the office a bit sweaty. (But it was worth it, as my team won!) I’m blessed and grateful for this opportunity and want to extend my thanks to abrdn, Catherine W., Rebecca Hughes, Kerr Allan and Georgie Miles for making it possible. It has reassured me that I can continue to align work with my values even after I leave university and enter the workforce. #StreetLeague #abrdn #Development #VolunteerExperience

Since 2019, 892 girls have taken part in the Futuremakers Goal Programme across London and Liverpool, a ground-breaking initiative which uses play and life skills education to transform the lives of adolescent girls.    In July, Street League and Standard Chartered joined forces to celebrate with some of those amazing young women at graduations, which included sports day style activities, battle archery, bubble-football and a certificate presentation! 🎓⚽🏹🎓   We are enormously proud of every single young woman who has participated and graduated from this programme, and we are proud of our coaches, who are totally committed to changing lives.   Thanks to funding from The Standard Chartered Foundation and the strong partnership between Street League, Women Win and Standard Chartered, we have an incredible opportunity to transform the way we work with young women, with the evolution of the Goal programme launching this September. We cannot wait to share more!    For now, please join us in celebrating the incredible class of 2024! 🎓🏆    #PoweringYoungPeople #SCfuturemaking #GoalUK

Dual Qualified Associate specialising in Infrastructure, Construction and Engineering Disputes at international law firm CMS, Lawcare Trustee & Street League Ambassador.

Pleasure to get out to visit Street League yesterday and to get involved in some of their employability and sport work in Craigend close to where I grew up (and still attempt to play 5s!). Absolutely bowled over and inspired by staff and participants working to make social mobility a reality. Thanks to Dougie Stevenson and the team for having me along. Looking forward to the next one!
