About us
Stepney City Farm is a working farm, with cafe and arts studios, in London's East End. We give children and adults a chance to meet farm animals, learn to grow food and try out arts and crafts. Our aim is to improve lives through farming. We bring together our diverse community, and cultivate wellbeing with high-welfare, environmentally-sound farming, traditional crafts, sustainability and community involvement. Our corporate volunteer programme has been a tremendous help to the organisation, helping to maintain regular operations and enabling the Farm to do major improvement works which would otherwise not have been financially or practically viable. Open to drop-in visitors 10am to 4pm, Tuesday - Sunday. At the end of May, the #WeatherTheStorm group took a restorative and healing trip to Stepney City Farm and had a wonderful guided tour from Susy. It was a beautiful day, and we learned about all the animals that live at the farm, and the many things grown there. Members of our community were able to feed pigs and goats, and to hold ferrets and even a chicken. We ended the day by making herbal teas and learning about the power of plants. Social inclusion events like this are incredibly important for members of our community, giving them access to places and activities that they might usually be excluded from. Our trustees really are great, helping out in many ways! 🐝🐝🍯🍯
If my career in insurance doesn't work out... 🐝 Last night I helped Volker, Stepney City Farm's beekeeper, to transport some live cargo from the rooftop of Cannon St station to the farm. I've never donned a beekeeper suit before, but hope to do it again as I really enjoyed it! Thanks to Volker Gulde, Louise Starling, Clare Hawkins, the security team at CMS, and Patrick the courier driver (yes I got stung... but not by a bee - by nettles near their new home!)
