Bridging Education & Practice: Insights from My Visit to STEM Architecture 📚🏗️ Recently, I had the privilege of visiting Stem Architects Ltd, a practice with over 25 years of experience in education, residential, and commercial sectors. One of the most exciting projects I learned about was the Air & Space Institute (ASI), which demonstrates how architecture can shape the future of education and innovation. A key takeaway from my visit was the advice on balancing academic studies with practical experience. The team emphasised the importance of applying theoretical knowledge to real-world projects and understanding the complexities of working with clients. This insight will be invaluable as I continue my studies and prepare for a career in architecture. A huge thank you to everyone at STEM Architects for your time and insights. East Lindsey District Council are pleased to announce that planning application and listed building consent has been approved for ALFORD MANOR HOUSE LIMITED and ALFORD WINDMILL LTD. The separate applications were unanimously approved by the planning committee. These two historic sites alongside Spilsby Sessions House Ltd are part of the Lincolnshire Wolds Culture and Heritage Programme. These sites are benefitting from £8 million funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to regenerate the sites and secure their futures. Works on the extension/refurbishment of the function space at Branston Hall are nearing completion. Award Winner! 🏆 We are delighted to announce that the Air and Space Institute ASI (Newark) has been awarded Construction Project of the Year at the East Midlands Property Dinner Awards 2024! The state-of-the-art facility has been recognised as a beacon of opportunity for young people in the region and the entire aerospace industry. The three-storey building accommodates a full-sized Airbus A318 for enhanced hands-on teaching experience, alongside a double height entrance hall, large open space hangar, flight simulators, teaching zones, engineering workshops, lecture and seminar areas. This week the refurbishment of Block C at North Nott’s College in Worksop reached practical completion. Block C is home Digital, Health and social care and Childcare courses. Works included the refurbishment of multiple classroom spaces and the adaption of existing spaces to create flexible, open plan learning environments. Additionally, specialist VR and Audio rooms were created.
