Four SPP Aquastream AM60A pumps are going through our vigorous test process with the client present at our state-of-the-art test facility in Gloucestershire, UK. The pumps are bespoke version end suction pumps with vertical discharge connection. Application: Interstage pumps. Client: a UK Water company. SPP Aquastream AM60A pumps fitted with 160kW, 10 pole motor. Our main test facility in the UK, supporting our ‘Right First Time’ philosophy, has a 1.4 million litre test tank with a depth of 6 metres. It can test pressures up to 50 bar, flows up to 2000 l/s and powers up to 800kW at 6.6kV, 400kW at 415V and 400kW at 60Hz. Generators can be used for higher powers or voltages. Customers are always welcome to visit the facility during manufacturing or the test phase. Reverse engineering at its best! What to do when a ‘vital to operations’ pump is of an obsolete design and requires replacing due to the pump being beyond economical repair, with no available replacement with identical footprint and duty requirements? Contact the SPP Pumps Engineering Services! We produced a reverse-engineered pump for the same customer back in 2021, which won the BPMA Project of the Year. However, this time, the customer required a 2nd pump extremely urgently. Already a complex project involving numerous stakeholders and requiring extreme reverse engineering expertise, we had the engineering and design data from 2021, but also had the time constraint to factor in. Ruling out the conventional patterns method for the pump casing, 3D printing was used and with pulling our expertise and resources from teams across the world, the pump has been produced, performance tested and installed within the time scale agreed with a very happy customer.
